I haven't had much time to get on here but just a follow up. I ended up finding the short. The wire harness that goes down to the 4wd switch was rubbing on a heat shield. I repaired the wire and re routed the harness and secured it better. Problem fixed. Thank you all for your input!

I'm interested in doing a solid axle swap on my 2001 xterra. I've never done it before. Does anyone have any advice on what would be a good suitable axle for the swap? Any advice or tips would be much appreciated also.
