Drew

I first fell in love with the xTerra when they were introduced in the December 1999 Motor Trend Magazine article branding them as the "Sport Utility of the Year." I wouldn't be able to by my first one for another three years, but when I did...Well, let's just say, I was lucky to get the 360,000 miles out of it I did.

I bought a Red, 2000, Nissan xTerra, SE, around the end of 2002. I was so excited because it was the very first vehicle under 5 years old I had ever owned, and my first one to finance through an actual dealership. Yes, they totally took advantage of my excitement and naivete, however, the experiences, knowledge, and excitement I had driving that vehicle were worth every penny.

When my 2000 X died (not for lack of desire to keep going, but because she had a very hard life) in November 2018, I knew I would never get anything other than a 2nd Gen xTerra.

Now, I am the happy owner of a Gen2-2010, Off-Road, version and I cannot be happier. Maybe, in a few years, I will find a good deal on a 2015 Pro-4X model.

My Gen1 and I made many off-road trips. I have several stories of my early adventures (read stupidity) and she powered through every thing without complaint or ever letting me down.
Those early failures, assumptions, and idiocy helped me be a better driver, on and off-road.

I only made four mods to my Gen 1: An after-market tow hitch, a Mean Green alternator, a rubberized roof liner, and after-market touch-screen head unit.
