I had become accustom to driving our Audi and took the ambient light feature for granted. I have really missed it since purchasing the X so I decided after a little R&D that I would give it a try and here is what I came up with. Total cost = $2.00 or the price of the LED. 
Tools Needed:
- PUSH TOP BIC PEN. REGULAR BIC WILL NOT WORK BECAUSE INSIDE DIAMETER IS TO SMALL BUT YOU COULD USE YOUR DREMEL TO MAKE IT LARGER
- LD1 AMBER LED FROM HERE
- DRILL
- DREMEL
- BASIC WIRING SUPPLIES
- SUPER GLUE
- Scalpel / Razor Blade
- SAND PAPER
- BODY PANEL / TRIM TOOLS
1. PULL DOWN MAP LIGHT / CEILING COUNSEL AND MODIFY IT TO FIT LED

2. CENTER AND DRILL YOUR HOLE
3. USE YOUR DREMEL TO BEVEL THE EDGE
The reason for this step is to keep the light from reflecting off the edges of the hole which keeps it stealthy and non-distracting.
4. DISASSEMBLE YOUR BIC PEN AND PREPARE FOR SURGERY
- TEST FITMENT BEFORE YOU START TO CONFIRM THE LED WILL FIT.
- CUT ABOUT ¼ INCH SECTION OFF OF THE END OF THE MAIN TUBE AND THE END
- CUT ANOTHER 1/16 INCH OFF OF THE END PIECE TO ALLOW ENOUGH ROOM FOR THE LED TO SLIP INTO THE SECTION OF TUBE YOU JUST CUT OFF
- SLIDE THE END PIECE INTO THE TUBE.
- FINISHED PRODUCT
5. CENTER YOUR DIFFUSER "BIC PEN" OVER THE HOLE AND GLUE IT IN PLACE
6. INSTALL YOUR LED AND WIRE IT UP
The LED fits really snug into the end of the pen so no need to glue it in place. I secured the wiring with electrical tape to the frame of the counsel and tapped the power source off of my temperature gauge mod for now. When I get around to mounting some roof lights I will probably tie it into the ground that controls the dash lights which will allow me to control the brightness with the factory dash controls.
7. REINSTALL YOUR COUNSEL AND ENJOY
MY COMPUTER ALL OF A SUDDEN DECIDED NOT TO READ MY MEMORY CARD SO I COULDN’T UPLOAD THE ORIGINAL PHOTOS I TOOK. I AM GOING TO SEE IF I CAN FIND A DIFFERENT CARD READER BUT UNTIL THEN THESE PHOTOS ARE MORE THE SUFFICIENT TO COMPLETE THIS MOD. AS ALWAYS IT HAS BEEN A BLAST FINISHING OFF ANOTHER MOD AND THE NEVER ENDING LIST AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO PM ME OR POST THEM UP HERE.
