Wheel width vs tire size question

My 2002 X has 265/70/R15's on it (bought it used that way), but the spare is 265/70/R16 (OEM size). I want to put a 265/70/R15 as a spare but don't know what width wheel to look for. Don't intend to buy a big dollar wheel, just something to mount a spare to for emergency use. Have heard Izuzu wheels will mount right up? How about Frontier wheels? Just need to be 15's with the right width.

The 15" rim has a 29.6" tire......but the spare 16" rim has a 30.6" tire on it, so thats a 0.5 difference on each side of the tire....not a big deal but will throw your steering off so I wouldn't want to use it for long. I was looking for a tire width for the supercharger wheels (what came on my X though its not a supercharger) and I think somebody sent me a link and they were 8".

Personally I would go to the junk yard and see if I could get a matching wheel

You can get a wheel from about any junk yard, and then get the same size tire for a spare, but if you are not going to use the spare in the rotation pattern than it really does not matter. The size difference as a temp tire would not matter. Think about all of the cars you see driving on a doughnut, and that is a bigger difference is a bunch.
