A while back my brother and his buddies swapped in a VR 6 into his little cabrio.

He calls me at work today, "yo, I need your help! My engines dead, just bought another one, and need to swap it out tonight, can you help me!?"

I get outa work and he's pulled the busted engine and already swapped over most of his parts. We threw on the tranny. Thank gobble for manual tiny trannys! And got to work.

My brother the idiot, haha. Don't even ask what he did to his motor... Lol

Almost fully dropped.

Look at that harness tuck job. For a straight factory harness not bad for a couple zip ties and some updated tape job!

I'd say not bad time 18hours pull repair install. Half time with one guy.

Can't wait till he gets it back on the street. It's like riding a Mario cart with speed shrooms!!

Think he picked up the used one for like 600. He knows a guy too. The VW scene around here is surprisingly large.

Remembering correctly.. 172hp and 177 lb/ft

Never got in dynoed, or racing it seriously. Just a fun project daily driver.

Yeah, a Golf Cabrio has to weigh less than my old Focus, and that thing flew with 175 hp.

Not a bad night's work, Curt.

Think its like 2700 with the old 115hp motor. Prob add like another 40lbs with the VR.

And thanks man. Couple more plans in the works for the car, but being his DD hes limited.

Wow, didn't think it would weigh that much. My Focus was 2700 pounds. I was also limited by the fact it was my DD. when it when down for a month waiting for a special order clutch/flywheel combo, I nearly went mad from having to bum rides off everyone.

I guess you can knock off the ~90lbs of gass off the curb weight. Haha that was my bro this month. His coolant hose poped off this summer, so he filled her with water to get home. Well when you forget about it till winter, the fractured block is a good reminder.

Aw damn, that sucks. Did that to my Bronco, but it worked out OK. Ended up replacing the 302 with a 400 big block that was given to me and then sold the whole rig for twice what I paid for it. Sometimes wish I still had it though.
