Tell me all there is to know! I have 80 hrs of vacation time I need to use by mid July. Im thinking of spending some time down in Uwharrie and over at Chimney Rock State Park. Ideally I would like to do some wheeling, fishing, camping and hiking between the two parks.

Kristin is our Uwharrie SME (subject matter expert)...too bad I can't tag her in this! UGH.

I've fished around Chimney Rock. INCREDIBLE fly fishing, if that's what you're into.

I have to agree, Chimney rock is amazing to fish (I go to school not 10 minutes away from there.)

I don't know what the fishing is around Uwharrie is like

Sent from somewhere by something

Seems Im prob going to spend more time at Chimney Rock. I want to hike up to the spots they filmed the ending of the Last Of The Mohicans. Uwharrie is mainly to get my camping and wheeling fix. I am also going to be spending some time in VA with some friends that live in the FT Lee area.

Yes, I've actually already posted a thread about UWHARRIE in the Offroad Parks section of the Tripping in the Nation sub-forum.

Here's your linky. http://www.xterranation.org/showthread.php?1179-Uwharrie-National-Park-Troy-NC

I've been there a couple of times. It's actually a really nice park. Although, Chimney Rock is the other direction [at least from where I live in Hickory.]

There's also a small park a little closer to Chimney Rock called Brown Mountain. You can't just load it into a GPS - so it's a little harder to find than URE. If you need any more info just shoot me a PM. =)
