turn signals won't cancel?

Turn signal (left or right) is on, make the turn, hear clicking sound but when steering wheel is back to straight ahead the blinker is still on. Guessing some plastic "tab" that cancels the turn signal is worn. Is this an easy fix? 2002 X, SE, V6, 5 speed.

I don't know what actually "cancels" the signal/returns the switch to the center/neutral position, but if it is something in the turn signal stalk that's broken, it's a very easy replacement for which I made a how-to...and I have a used stalk for sale if you're interested.

Let's see what others say first though :)

Its more than likely this. More specifically, the multi-directional switch has gone bad. ~$65 part.

The good news is that its not a clock spring (since it has no bearing on the turn signals).
