Snorkel and apollo thoughts

To anyone thinking the Apollo filter I have a question I just thought of.

If the stock airbox is used and a little water goes in snorkel then the water would catch in the bottom of box rather than go up through filter.

With the apollo any water comes in and goes straight to the filter.

Worst I see happening is clogging but just food for thought. I mean really only rain will hit that high most likely on your car and I don't see much of that going in.

Well supposedly the snorkel head is designed to sipe water away from going down the tube but I suppose some incursion is possible. I guess we'll find out!

^That and the water that does make it into the tube section ends up runnin down the inside wall of the tube and basically dried by the air rushing in. Also a wet air filter still doesn't mean ur gonna get water into ur engine. It still has more tubing its got to run through to make it to ur throttle body then ur manifold. If any did make it that far then it would be a cple drops and that isnt gonna hurt a motor.

If you get water in the stock air box it will still have enough suction to hit the filter, the issue I've had with the stock box is that the tube gets old and cracks and the air box isn't really very well sealed... You can seal the holes with silicone or whatever but that still doesn't seal the top and bottom hands of the box together

I wasn't saying it would hurt your engine. I was just wondering if it is more likely to maybe wet the filter which would clog up airflow? Just bored at work thinking.

Plus I realize a stock box could do the same but I figure it takes more force to pull water up from the bottom of the box then it does to have it come straight onto the cone.

I was thinking more in terms of heavy rain so sealing either airbox completely isn't the issue since your not submerging the car that deep.

Either way I still like the Apollo and may get it. My jeep buddy and I just had this thought so I posted it to see others thoughts.
