SC 17" or 15"?

I've trying to decide which route I want to take. I currently have the SC 17" wheels. I plan to run 33's but I'm just not sure if I want to keep my wheels or get a set of 15" soft 8's or pro comps. I know keeping the 17" with stock BS will be the best route inorder not to have to cut. I don't like how narrow my stock tires are now. I would like them to stick a bit more. Will I notice a difference if I go from stock 5.5 BS to say like a 4.75 BS? Also I've read a lot about this and everyone says you will have to cut/trim/BFH to get the 4.75 to fit. But when I got to see others builds they are usually missing that whole plastic piece closest to the door and usually have a new bumper or have cut the stock one all up. I want to keep my bumper and as much of the plastic as I can. At the same time I don't mind cutting a little to make it work. I know that will have to happen. I'm open to suggestions as what to do.

I can go either route as far as price goes. Although its cheaper to get wheels amd tires in a 15. It's more the look I'm worried about. I don't like the skinny tucked look. But I'm also only looking at what I have now which are pretty much a stock AT tire. It's hard to find pictures on here from other members running the wheels I have.

I have a silver 04 with SC rims and will be getting new tires (though 32's) within the next month or two if you aren't planning on buying some right now I'll post pics when I do. But I have a shrock bumper so that will be a bit different in how it would look for yours.

To run 33's you'll at least have to have a 2" BL or you'll be cutting like crazy......if they'll even fit without the BL.

Don't worry about backspacing.. You can run a -5 with little issue.. Rattfink runs this set up with soft 8s. Rim width is key.. Do not go more than 8" wide... 15s are cheap to run.. 16s or 18s would be my second pick.. 17" is a hard size on the wallet.

Sticking with a 15 gives you more sidewall to play with offroad, it works against you on the road but for me it is well worth it in the rocks and mud.

I have 15x10's with -38mm offset. The stance is awesome with them, however I dont do alot of rock crawling and am not worried about blowing beads. I did cut the fenders, btw. They don't rub though :) I like the look of the 15 too. Also like everyone else has said. You'll find alot of options with it at a better price.

Are You running a 12.5 inch wide tire? I forget what offset my wife's wheels are but I remember no one stocked the goofy Xterra offset and they had to order them from Cragar.

17's for road tires cuz the look nice. 15's for off road tires cuz they are more practical & economical.

These are my 15's that SpongeX was talking about (and that stupid brush guard is gone as well):

I don't think they look too skinny and I don't have any issues with fender rub either, but I'd definitely have to do some trimming and mods if I went to 33's.

I think I’ve decided to get new wheels and tires. I would like to run a 33x12.5x15 with 4.5 BS. Will I be able to run 4.5 BS with minimal trimming? Seems like not only do I need to worry about BS but the offset as well. Discount tire has 2 options in the soft 8’s. As provided in the link below. One is -13 and one is 6. I also like the Pro Comp wheels. Which one should I go with out of these 3?
