Possible Motor Mount Issue

I'm still betting on motor mount. sure looks cracked to me, and it might just sit there until you go over a bump big enough to move it

Yeah it's not that I feel it over bumps it's when I'm coasting and tap the accelerator I hear a slight clunk and it kinda bounces

My diagnosis remains the same. What I mean by bumps is mine didn't really move until I was hopping up over a big arse rock, and it shifted

Okay so there is some rotational play (visual and auditory) and a slight vertical play (not visual but auditory) http://youtu.be/TkQaG-wF8kE

The first sounds are rotational the second not visually noticeable but you can hear it is the vertical

Here is the video again incase you missed it

I am wondering if the rotational play which you can visually see is a problem. I can rotate it like that without it moving the wheels that is free play

Also later in the video you can hear a clicking as I move it vertically (~ :21 sec) you can't see it move but I can hear it move and tap..

That doesn't seem to be enough play to cause problems IMO. It seems like when I did that with my x I had a slight amount of play as well. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the reply, I need to get my wheels balanced and I think that might help but I will wait for my new tires to do that, right now money is tight (hense my headlight thread) but I don't want to spend money on something that will be done in a few month. I do have slight vibrations (more than normal) through the wheel and floor where my feet are at highway speed. I don't like it but don't have the money to fix it.... #collegeproblems

Yeah. That play doesn't look excessive. Especially with an auto tranny. In park you're going to get some rotational play. As far as the wiggle that you can hear and not see, usually when u-joints go bad you can see it around the boot of the end cap. You'll have really shiny metal around the shaft on the blown cap. That indicates play in the cap which translates to bad needle bearings.

Yeah from your video they look good. From previous experience I've had them look just fine but be seized up inside. Any more I just jack the rear high in the air. Then remove the 4 bolts and take the shaft to the bench where I can really feel its rotational pivots. They are difficult to diagnose at the early stages of failure. Though the test you performed looked pretty good. Mine went out at 110, 000 miles. Not that that is any indication of how fresh yours are. Continue to troubleshoot you'll eventually find the source. Just takes time.

This, also. Check your lug nuts.....I know from experience.

On my way back from taylor park I felt a bad wobble that eventually turned into like an aggressive bounce when hitting my brakes similar to anit lock brakes fighting back. Pulled over found my rear wheel was WAY loose like 5 of 6 lugs were multiple threads loose. Tightened them down got it home and broke off 4 studs getting the lugs off.

those mounts are bullet proof. I haven't bothered to put the other one in on the passenger's side because those don't tend to fail like the driver's does, but I have the other one ready just in case
