Hey guys and gals, my sister-in-law Hannah is going in for some extensive back surgery today to correct her severe scoliosis and ruptured discs. She'll be having 2 of her vertebrae fused together and will be off her feet for a very long time. She's a mother of 2 and a wonderful person who tends to let situations get the better of her, so her spirits are not exactly high going into this.

If you could all please keep Hannah in your thoughts today and in the coming days/weeks, it would be much appreciated.

We will definitely keep her in our thought and prayers. The wife has a degenerative back disorder and has gone through various back surgeries (hence the handicap tag that's always hanging from the mirror in my rig's pictures...) We know of several people that have had great outcomes from fusing discs. The physical therapy after is imho about as important as the surgery itself.....and a major pain in the rear, but most definitely worth it.

Well the surgery went very well, now it's time for healing and some PT. The doctors did the surgery on the spine from the front, so there's some considerable discomfort and healing, but Hannah's on the mend and feeling much better, and that's all that matters.

Thanks everyone.

I'm represent several spinal and orthopaedic implant manufacturing companies in the Boston and New England area and I am regularly viewing these procedures. Though this is major surgery the research often reflect very positive outcome.

My best to your sister in law and the rest of the family.

Though most patients are bad with Physical Therapy compliance, this is where those positive outcomes become something more.

Best wishes for Hannah and hoping she gets a fast recovery. All is in the head, with a possitive attitude this will be over fairly quickly.
