Ok, I've decided to repaint my plastics rather than trying one of the dyes or oxidizing magicians so I won't have to keep applying every 6 months. So does anyone have good thorough step by step instructions on everything from removing the plastics to reinstalling them (and every step in between) or a link to one? Anybody done this and remember about how long it takes for the whole process? Thanks in advance, i'll be posting before and after photos.

Well since your a Reds fan :)

I used Krylon Fusion Paint They make a good semi gloss or flat. This can be bought at Walmart or Home depot.. This paint is made for plastics

The #1 issue is making sure the plastics are clean.. I recommend Dawn.. Has a great surfactant in it that loves oils..
I pulled all mine off.. washed them with Dawn and a good tire scrub brush.. TWICE! All those road oils need to be off..

Best way to start this is the rear bumper plastic.. The one on top of the bumper.. It pops off.. ZERO screws... Wash it,, Dry it, Make sure no water is on it.. then I sprayed a light coat of paint. You should see some paint on it.. But it shouldnt look done.. LIGHT coat.. Give it about 15 mins.. Then repeat the light coat again.. "TIP" Hold the can a good 6 to 10" away from the plastic or you will get runs..

After that coat drys you should see the color coming in.. Next is the final coat.. I go Med - heavy on the last coat.. Still I dont want runs.. Then let it dry over night... and your done..

This can be a fun project.. But you need to not rush and take your time..

Ill try to post some pictures for you later

Well im not sure if there is a write up that goes into greatpetersons detaill for the removal process... but most peices are pretty simple...the front bumper is just a series of philips head screw that are in the wheel wells and under the front edge... the rear bumper peices are the same... just a few screws... the grill has some twist snap things... hard to explain ill search for the write up on these... as for prep just clean the plastics with a mild soap and water mixture and sry them well then paint away! As for paint I recommend valspar for plastics... two cans will do the whole truck... pm me if you have any more specific questions I have a 04 as well

Has anyone done the spray on bedliner on the plastics?

I have used the Rustoleum spray-on bedliner on my plastics. I took the plastics off, washed them thoroughly with Dawn (multiple times to be sure), scuffed the plastics with a vary fine grit sandpaper, washed again(twice), let dry, and sprayed away. Take time to prep, do multiple light coats or it will run/ glob up like paint. After you are done spraying, let the parts sit for 12-24 hours. The first parts I sprayed, I got anxious and started putting them on as soon as they were dry. I bunped a corner and a little piece came off(taped off and easilt touched up). After that, I let the parts sit until the next day and they have survived bumps and scraped just fine. Now I've sprayed just about every external, exposed piece of plastic on my X.

I think DJQuin plastidipped his plastics as well as the rest of his rig. As far as I know, his have held up well. You might want to PM him though just to be sure.
