How a diff works

Was watching old videos on youtube and found this video explaining how a differential works and thought it was one of the best explanations I had ever seen for making it really simple to understand. its an old vid made by chevy in the 30's. The intro is some guys doing motorcycle tricks and then it kind of connects into talking about differentiation between the wheels, but basically if you dont want to watch the guys on motorcycles skip to about 2:30.

I saw that video too...it is awesome! Very thorough explanation...from why the concept is needed, to a step by step progression as to how the design was developed.

I found the entire thing interesting even though I already knew how they worked.

Oh man thank you for posting that! I remember seeing this years ago on CX. I haven't seen it in years.

That makes it about as simple as possible....excellent explanation! Alot of vehicle engineering has changed but some things were just designed right from the start!
