Getting unwanted noise from the radio.

Wondering if anyone here has had problems with a ticking noise from there aftermarket radio/amp install. This only happens when the engine is running. I have checked all grounds and have bypassed the harness ground to a frame ground. I've check the RCA's at the radio and then at the amp. The sound goes away both times so that tells me the sound is from the radio. Also don't think it would be a ground loop at this point. I've tried every grounding trick in the book to eliminate the sound with no luck. I'm starting to think there might be a dirty power wire in the harness. IDK.
I wonder if the radio could be picking up noise from the ECU/M.

The radio is a Dual XDVD3201 and the amp is a ADS PQ20.

Thanks guys for any ideas you might have.

You can try wrapping the harness around a ferrite core. The clip on style do not work as well as the full doughnut style. Also worth a try is a small cap across the V+ and ground of the radio. 25v, about 0.3 uF - 1 uF

Try searching for "factory amplifier" there have been many issues in the past regarding the stock amp creating noise with aftermarket equipment. Obviously the best way around it is to run new wires to the speakers and remove the factory amp which is in the dash just below the radio. Possibly you have done that already? Mines a 2001 so I don't have one and there for don't know much a about it.

I have thought about trying the ferrite core. Didn't think about a cap. I'll try them out and see. Thanks.

Yep, the factory amp is removed and gone. Well in storage. The noise is from the radio. The aftermarket amp by itself is free and clear from the noise. Thanks.
