So I bought the lifetime alignment a year ago and have taken my truck in 4 times now... Until now I have received pretty decent service... But today my wife took my truck in for me and they are telling her that lifetime alignments are not covered for trucks that offroad... Anyone else run into this issue?

Make him show you in the original contract. And if you take it up the food chain he will do it so that his boss does not have to deal with his mistakes in judgement.

What he's not saying is he doesn't want his shop to lose money having someone come in every few weeks to get an alignment when they are 'purposely' causing it to fall out. I'm pretty certain the intent of the lifetime alignment was for the soccer mom to have it checked once a year.

I bought the same thing and the only thing they told me was to please wash it before bringing it in after going off road, which I understand, nothing worse than dirt in the eye.

My wife took the X to Firestone 2 yrs ago and surprised me w/ the lifetime alignment . When I put the new UCA's on and went in for the alignment he said they couldn't do it because they couldn't put it to factory specs. When I gave them the specs for a lifted truck, he said oh we can't do it because the cam bolts are damaged. After speaking to the manager and showing him my contract and the specs, somehow they were able to do the alignment.

I understand that they don't want people abusingit and in coming in every week for an alignment... but my biggest thing is is I was there maybe a month ago and they told me to replace the center link and come back so i did... and now they are saying they're canceling it...

I emailed corporate and explained myself... Hey responded quickly.. We will see what happens

I did have a problem with my Firestone not having the alignment specs for my 2012, I told him to align it like any Xterra from 05 on with the camber and toe set to 0 and he made a note to the tech.

Its pretty much up to the store manager on these things, learned this a long time ago on lowered cars to non factory specs, goes the same way for lifted trucks to non factory specs. One or 2 around here are cool with it and will do the lifetime, the rest of them won't even put it on the rack. Had a friend get the run around at one in spartanburg when dialing in his autocross alignment, so he was driving all the way to a greenville store who honored it every time.

Go to a different fire stone. If the manager wants to be a dick then why give him your money? In any case I'd fight it and complain. I'll be interested to see how they get back to you!

Just got a phone call from the regional manager and they officially just canceled my alignment service so for those of you that have it and are continuing to use that good luck for others I don't recommend you getting the claiming that my rear shackles that I purchased from Calmini are making it too difficult to align

I gave up on paying shops to do alignments. $60 to $80 for an hour's worth of work is fair but it's pretty easy do do it yourself if you have the tools to do it and a flat place to park the truck.

I bought one of these and it works well: http://www.longacreracing.com/catalog/item.asp?id=1299&catid=5

There are a bunch of less expensive ones out there that probably work just as well. I use the gauge for caster and camber, then I use the string and tape measure method to adjust toe.

I'm really glad that I took the plunge and started doing my own alignments (thanks to cyclemutt for the encouragement), steering geometry is cool stuff. You seem like the kind of guy that would get into learning how do do this right. You will probably learn to do a better job than the shop does.

How can rear shackles make it more difficult when the rear doesn't even have any adjustment. I don't see how they could get in the way of their laser dohickeys either, they attach to the outside of the wheel.

I have the lifetime alignment with Firestone and even after installing the Calmini 3" lift, they have never given me any grief. The alignment works at other Firestone stores, so maybe you should try another store?

Good Luck!

Well that's the thing, I can't go to another store because this one threw a fit and canceled my policy..

I would say go to Firestone Corp then, but the selfish side of me says that they could agree with him and put a policy in place that would hose the rest of us who don't have that problem. Dang it.
It maybe worth a call to see how the policy was written and was your lift done prior to purchasing the lifetime alignment? Then you can battle that.

Thats ridicoulus, I just bought the lifetime ailignment a few weeks ago because I was putting a lift on my ranger and knew I was going to need the ailignment after the new lift and tires...The lady I spoke with told me to buy the lifetime before I did the lift and it would still be good after. Then when I went to the store I asked the manager specifically about if I would get cancelled if I put a lift or larger tires etc. and he said it did not matter as long as it was the same vehicle....I would be really pissed at the douche who cancelled your agreement.
