I could not find a how to or another post that described this so.

How do you remove the front hood and rear hatch emblems? I would like to black mine out and not a fan of painting while still on the car.

I believe that I read they are stuck on with double sided tape. Which means that a heavy weight fishing line behind it and sawing the line through the tape would work. That's how I was able to get my door plastics off. For the residue that was left over you can use goo gone and a plastic spackling tool to get the rest of it off. If it's still chilly out where you live you can take a blow dyer to the emblem to soften up the double stick tape before going through with the fishing line.

I'm going to take mine off when i Pink my hood. I want to paint them black and take a brush with the pink monstaliner and do the letters. I'm also thinking of doing just the X on the Xterra parts on the hatch.

I can't wait to see how yours turns out!

The fishing line works good, A plastic spatula works really good to.
The spatula is way quicker though

Im gonna suggest sanding the emblem before painting to get that slick chrome up, and then just hit creepy up for a blacked out xterra badge to go on the hatch

I'm guessing you've got a first gen but if not the one in the front has 2 clips in the grill you can pop out no sticky stuff,

The front on the 1st gens has 2 like clip thingys plus the glue. Just be careful using the spatula, be sure to work it around the the emblem slowly and try to pry out as a little as possible. I didnt get all the glue off but a hair dryer and a little elbow grease took care of wat was left over.

When I did the rear on my white X I slide news paper behind it and taped it up very well... I used a razor blade to get the Xterra bardge off.. which was nice because it left A LOT of the sticky on.. so a few drops of super glue and I was all good
