My dome light that is between the back and front seats isn't working and I took it off and it doesn't seem to have power.

The hatch one is working though and so do the two map lights??? What's the problem?

have you tired a new bulb? also check and see if u have a dome fuse. and if all else fail turn the switch on and check it with a volt meter. the non digital ones are not very accurate btw

Yea u swapped the bulb with the hatch one and still only the hatch one works. All fuses are good as well plus I'm assuming both are on the same fuse. I need to buy a meter so I can really test.

Sounds like the connector for the light has come undone, or the switch isn't making contact in the light.

FYI on the wiring: both lamps are driven off the same connector on the SECU, and the harness connector is a 3-pin on the passenger side. I'd look at the fixture itself at this point.

Depends on the meter, and how you intend to use it. I'd rather use an analog meter to find an intermittent.

i was more referring to the cheap 2 dollar ones at the auto parts store.
i do have a nice analog but its from the 70s and works well but no where near as accurate as my fieldpiece or my fluke digital meters.

Where is this connector located?? Is it visible without taking apart the dash?

Pin 50 is the dome light door signal and is on the 2 row connector; the rear light comes on, so I wouldn't worry about this. Not too sure about the 3 pin connector. The FSM shows it kinda high on the passenger side, but it may be behind the A Pillar cover.

I haven't had this issue on my Xterra, but my 240SX dome light stopped working once. There was no power getting to the bulb contacts but when I pulled it all down there was power to the switch. Cleaning the switch contacts cured the problem. I have no idea if the Xterra switch is similar or not but it might be something to check if you haven't already solved it.
