I heard about this on satellite radio this morning. I took the quiz and it says I speak like those in Wichita, KS. I don't know how to take that, but at least it's not like I talk all valley girl like my sisters.

Just thought it was interesting. Where do you guys come from, dialect wise, that is?

Answer all 25 questions, then it comes up with their answer.

Interesting stuff, for sure.

Richmond, and Norfolk/Chesapeake. I would say that is 100% spot on. I grew up in Charlottesville and the Richmond area and spent nearly every summer at the beach, or Chesapeake Bay. Funny thing is all of my friends and family still living in Virginia would tell you I sound like a native Texan.

That thing is so accurate it's kind of scary. It pegged me in the VA Beach area. With no variation. Which is where I grew up and where I still live.

That's funny it said I'm from Denver/Aurora Colorado and that's where I grew up.. The funny part is that I was born back east and spent a lot of summers there, and both my parents are New Englanders..

Born and raised in the heart of Western Massachusetts, I am most similar to Springfield MA, Rochester and Buffalo NY. All 3 based on the fact that I call atheltic shoes "sneakers".

I am least similar to Little Rock AR, Lubbock and Corpus Christi TX. Least similar to Little Rock based on my pronunciation of the first syllable of "lawyer" being pronounced like "boy". Least similar to Lubbock based on carbonated beverages being called "soda", and least similar to Corpus Christi by me addressing a group of people 2 or more as "you guys".

Pretty cool quiz, I liked seeing how many of my answers linked me to parts of the country that I have no known/direct ancestry to.

Amarillo, Wichita, and Louisville. I grew up in eastern New Mexico so Amarillo makes sense, Wichita I've been to several times, Louisville I've never been that far east. I feel this quiz doesn't cover spanglish to specify New Mexico.

I took the test twice, and got different locations both times. Most of the questions were the same, but probably 5 differed between the 2 tests. I answered all questions that were asked both time with the same answer. First time it pegged me. It said I was Winston Salem, Charlotte, Greensboro. I lived in Dallas TX for a few years but spent most of my childhood about 30 minutes from winston, 45 minutes from greensboro and an hour from charlotte. second time I took the test it It said I was most like Fresno CA, Modesto CA, and Reno NV.

Nashville, Birmingham, and Chattanooga....I've been in the Nashville area for 20+ years, so that sounds about right.

It pegged me pretty well. And the eastern KY deep red makes sense as well, even though I'm from central KY, I have reason to believe my ancestors moved to central KY from the mountain areas.

I didn't know that some of the questions changed if you took it again. I'll have to take it again to see what happens. Now my wife wants to take it. Of course she was born in Joliet, Illinois and then moved to Amarillo when she was young. I'm interested in what it comes up with for her.

Her mom sounds like Mrs. Doubtfire, she was born in London, both of her parents moved there from Ireland back in the late 30's. She was actually bombed by the Germans in WWII and was thought dead for 2 days until they found her in the section of the hospital that collapsed.

So my wife has a Texas accent with proper English thrown in for good measure. She'll throw them Harvard boys a curve for sure. ;)

Was close for me, said Stockton/Sacramento/Santa Rosa, CA but I'm actually from Southern California. Still interesting to see. If you look at the heat map for my results San Diego (where I was born) and Central/Northern Colorado (where I grew up and live) are pretty high up there as well.

It pegged me in chattanooga, TN which is about an hour or so away from where I live. Throw a little Birmingham and Montgomery in there for good measure... yep, sounds about right. I live in Polk County (which is where TN,NC,and GA) all meet.
