Dash lights & tail lights inop, 15amp fuse continues to blow...??

So, In the last 6 years of owning my Xterra, I've had zero issues until recently. A few days ago the dash lights and tail lamps stopped working. Did some searching found that it was the 15amp fuse that blew. Then after replacing it, it blew again once attempting to turn on lights. Thinking that I had a bad fuse the 2nd time I dropped in a new one...again it blew.

Never in 6 years have I blown a fuse. Only thing I have done electrical in the last 6 months is wire in a 7-round trailer connector but again, zero issues until now.

I hate asking for help.... but any ideas what to look for?

I had the same problem, and came up with a blown bulb in the license plate causing a short. Also did a writeup for this problem

You'll want a meter to shove in the fuse socket so you're not blowing fuses every time you turn around. This one from Harbor Freight works well.

Thanks. I'll dig into it more tomorrow, use tester, check all bulbs and scratch my head to solve it.

Well, turns out the cause of the issue were from those silly front bumper marker lights, which in the last 6 years have never worked. One side had the wires exposed and they were grounding out.
