Some of you maybe looking at the name of this thread and think "what? why is he asking this? coolant is coolant."

Let me plead my case.... thanks to 2 years of ASE Automotive training i am cursed to be forever anal of what brands i put in my X.

Ok now back to the topic at hand. what is a Nissan friendly brand or blend of coolant that is good for the ole 3.3? i ask this because certain brands of coolant have different additives that can help or hurt a motor depending on what those silly automotive engineers design. for example: GM calls for Dex-cool brand orange coolant. im wondering if Nissan has a go-to brand itself.

thanks, BigJim.

I was told Zerex Asian Vehicle is what should be used.

The first time I flushed and filled my system I used this, I was only able to get it at Napa and they had to order it. Problem is, they only sell it (at least around here) in a 50/50 mix. Not a problem but I generally like to run 60/40 or so, to really get the highest freeze protection and overheat protection since here in New England we see both extremes of cold and heat. I never had any problems with the Zerex. It's pink, FWIW.

Currently I'm running Prestone, the "mix with any color, for any make and model".

I've been running this since my water pump/timing belt/radiator change, and again, have no issues. It's diluted a little bit stronger than 60/40, due to the extreme cold we've had this winter. In the spring time I'll get it back to 60/40.

After doing my timing belt/water pump. I filled back up with this. Sadly I haven't been able to drive my X yet...

Fairly priced for me though, it was like $11/Gal.
