CO2 tank home brew powertank?

Soo I got a few buddies that have won Powertanks in the raffles our club holds and its got me thinking " why do these have to be so damned expensive?"

Soo what exactly would be the reason why I couldnt get a small co2 tank and put an airline and regulator on and rock it? the initial cost of the tank would be the biggest chunk of change but I really doubt it would be over $100 total investment unless Im missing something.

Checking on ebay 10 lbs tanks run around $50 empty and cost around 10-20 bucks to fill.

I plan on putting in an OBA at some point.. whether it is CO2 or it is Compressed Air.. I am not sure.. I will be following this, hopefully to make my decision easier.

Also, I had the same question about CO2, but never asked on the forum

Id rather have a compresser setup but for the the amount of use Ill really have airing up tires from time to time I cant justify buying a good compresser and dont want the headache of a cheap compressor pissing me off for taking forever.

So the tank itself is 169 retail from Powertank so there's some savings there. Not sure how much you could save on the rest

I said screw it and went to a welding company and rent out their CO2 tanks. Picked up a good regulator and works great.

Can you post up some info Ricel? Whats the regulator off, what size tank your using, How long is it lasting?

I picked up a 10lb tank from my local welding supply company. My buddy, an underwater welder had an old @$$ one lying around and told me to bring that one on for the swap out.

The regulator actually came from a beer tap setup I build out of my old college fridge, but don't have the room for anymore. It does freeze a little more than a power tank, but I haven't seen any issues yet.

Then I picked up a PowerTank bracket and followed brklyn's write up.
