Chaos Off Road - Great things

Hey Everyone,

I know not everyone is on Facebook so I wanted to update here before I start going everywhere else.

This past sunday (12/7/14) The VAXC went to go visit Chaos Fab Shop in Berryville, VA. I personally had been following them for awhile ever since I first ran into them a Big Dogs Offroad a year ago. I just recently in the past few months had been reaching out to see what it would take to get us to be able to attend their events. I did not know a lot about what they had going on, I just knew they had a fab shop, a really cool crawler, and they had opened a park right on the VA/WV border. Other than that, I kinda assumed they were some jeep guys that might not be all that excited about dealing with Nissans.

I am incredibly excited to report that our trip yesterday was a huge success. We had 10-15 different trucks all show up, so I was worried at first it might be too much for a scouting/meet and greet.
Nope. AK took the time to talk to every one of us, look over the rigs from front to back and let us know concerns, get to know them, point out possible weak points, bring up things we might not have thought about, and he did so the whole time complimenting the Xterra. I have met with several different fabricators over the past few years here in Richmond and 4x4 shops. The amount of respect we were treated with was outstanding. Here is a shop that can build anything, has a rig for King of Hammers parked in the entrance, and he was getting just as excited as we were. Talking about building custom suspension set ups, bumpers/sliders/skids, and not trying to gouge us at the same time.

There will be more to come from this, big time. I talked it over amongst some members of the team and we are all sold. The next steps will be getting The VAXC to be part of the Chaos family, getting some guys trained up as Trail Guides at the park, and getting a few more trucks up on their lifts to get some work done. AK and his team are just as excited to get working with us as we were to begin working with them. So in the coming months (taking a little time off personally, mini-obi's first christmas) there will be some invites sent out to check the shop out some more, to check the park out, and to attend some Chaos events.

Also - even though AK is not driving a Nissan, I am personally inviting him into the VAXC. What he has going on aligns with every thing I want the VAXC to be a part of.

So be sure to check out www.chaosoffroad.com and see what they have going on over there.

And welcome in a new partnership that will take both groups to great places.

Dude you already know where I stand and where I stood prior to meeting them. I had a blast meeting them and loved the attitude of the Ak and his wife the while time we were there.

I really want to get to one of the welding classes for sure. Heck, if they were not so far away I would go there to hang out and just learn from AK. I really look forward to getting out there and wheeling with him.

I say we talk to them about setting up s welding day for VAXC. I know on their page it says something about doing it for your group.

Had an awesome time as well, great people/great shop. Extremely knowledgeable about what it really takes to successfully wheel and what actually needs to happen if/when something breaks. Can't wait to get back up there.

I am sure there will be times where we can go out and have some fun, I got that impression from AK.

I want to go snow wheeling with them bad, that looked like a ton of fun.

There's always time to have fun I was just being sarcastic about having been"officially" taught how not to drive like I do.

Great to hear that it was a huge success! I've spoken to them about becoming a trail guide with them I just have been out of country each time they offer the training. Another great way to help them is to help on their trial clearing/making days. Like them on Facebook they post most if not all their info on there.

AK did ask that a few us attend the Trail Guide classes - for the sake of the club and other IFS drivers. I know I am signing up as soon as I see them post.
Will be good to wheel with you when you get a chance man, are you back state side for a bit now?

I talked with AK yesterday about making a custom front plate bumper, and it sounded like they could have the prototype ready in January. I also gave him the schematics for the skids, dimensions and angles. Hopefully that will help build our relationship with their shop.

Nice! (yeah, I know we talked offline already, lol).
I know he was able to take a look at some Hefty skids that Reeder dropped off for a bit. We talked yesterday about making them in several different materials - steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and (crazy enough) the same plastic he uses for the Juggernaut skids.
We also talked about making up sliders. I need to follow back up with him on Monday about when we can get skid set out because I know we have a few people waiting for some.

If he does a run of first gen skids I might be up for some too if I dont build my own before then.

I didn't get a chance to talk to AK yesterday, was out of commision due to illness.

However I will ask. I think we only had 2nd gen templates available, so not sure about 1st gens.

Greetings all!

New to the site with a "new to me" 2011 Xterra. My wife and I have done some light weight off roading but pretty new to it overall. Funny, I had come across Chaos while looking for help to get some sliders installed. Somehow that led me to VAXC then to XN and here we are. Gonna see about attending one of their classes and getting the sliders installed. Finally!

Looking forward to meeting and learning from everyone in the group.

AK and I need to reconnect about the sliders and such, but hopefully having more people interested will get the ball rolling. The holidays kinda delayed everything. I am calling him on monday though, so I will post up any updates here.

Thanks! We traded emails looking to set something up but then me and the missus went on vacation, the holidays came and just haven't gotten it done. Hopefully soon!

Has there been any more updates from this shop yet? Just wondering about getting the skids made. I'd also like to work with them about being a vendor at ECXC.

Sn0

So far? No. Communications with AK and Maria have been limited. Last we talked was about helping out with the park clean up a few weeks ago. I have not had any responses from them via email or phone.

We have a few people wanting to get skids and sliders made up. From when I have talked to him, he was pretty busy with some current orders and also getting ready to open the park. I was going to give them a few weeks, then reach out. Which mean - sometime next week. I didn't want to badger him already with fabrication requests.
Also, wanted to make sure people had a chance to get into the group buys going on. Chaos has great potential, but we have great supporters running some sales now and I don't want to step on toes.

As for being a vendor at ECXC, I mean it can't hurt to help out. I will say I have had some obstacles communicating with them about supporting the VAXC, and we are in the same state. It's not that they wont, it's just very hard at times to get a hold of anyone.

I'm hoping we can work with Chaos to get them the business they need to be successful. I'm thinking we could partner with a distributor to help make it more worthwhile for them...I don't know. I'm not super interested in paying $150 to ship a set of skids when it could cost me $40 in gas, roundtrip, to pick some up.

Oh, so they don't need us. We (the VAXC) need them more because they are local and a fabricator, and they have a park. Chaos is already pretty successful and has connections to distributors for gears, parts, shocks, etc. Pretty much they can get us really anything we might need, minus things like Nisstec or PRG exclusive parts.

But yeah, I am totally with you. I would rather pay the gas to get my part then pay shipping on 1 transmission skid.

let me reconnect with them and report back.

What GB's? I've heard of others going on likeInsain, P&P, Harcore, etc but I have not heard of a Chaos one. What sort of stuff do they have for xterras and what does their stuff look like? :wut:

Edit: Oh, you mean existing GB's from those companies, alright then. Ignore this post lol.
