Hey All.....If possible does anyone have any photos of this mount on a Gen 2. I started looking for photos but it will take me forever to look through the posts to find what I want. Of course i am thinking about mounting in my rear hatch. I've read that I need to possibly bend a little bit. But wasn't sure exactly where people were mounting this.

thanks in advance....

A bunch of us first gen guys have that and it is mounted right above the tail light, either passenger or driver. Mine is driver because I wanted to run the coax straight up the side of my truck, and to the CB, with the excess coiling going under my driver seat.

Yeah I know alot of first Gens are using that. What worries me is that this isn't going to work to well on a Gen2. I thought about this over the weekend after taking notice that there is a big difference in the rear hatch area. I should have noticed this quicker since I had a Gen1 too. LoL. Guess I can make it work and I know people have the antenna mounted there. But I'm unsure as to what mount they are actually using.

That is the same mount, it is just flattened out. Also when you get the mount, you can play around with the mounting area to make sure that you have it where you want. Why not put it in a new place, somewhere that hasn't done before and then do a write up, get rep points, be awesome. I didn't do this, but with a new canvas, I think you could get away with it.

Yeah I don't have a problem with doing this. Although I don't think there are going to be to many options. Especially if I want to keep this on the rear somewhere.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Hey Jesse I have one of those mounts you showed and i have put it on my gen2. I stuck mine right between the taillight and the body on the passenger side. I am not happy with mine, i had a hard time getting that bracket bent so that it would fit nicely. Anyone out there got tips on how to bend that bracket? I used pliers, hammer and a vice and did not get great results. Maybe a torch to soften it up a bit??

Also, i'd recommend NOT putting the bracket behind the tail light. I had to trim some of the taillight plastic and now I get water in the taillight. Finally, it seems as though the screws I put into the body didnt find a lot to bite into, one of the screws isnt doing much at all and I will need to replace it with a bigger screw or look to see if I can use a bolt.

If I get a chance I will snap some pix for ya.

I was kinda curious as to how it fits behind the taillight. I definitely don't want to trim if I don't have to. In fear of water like your having. I'll mess with looking for some spots. I should have it today when I get home from work. I don't have my CB yet so I am not in any hurry really.

Well I got my mount the other day and looked for places to mount mine. Looks like behind the tail light is the only option with this type of mount. I think I will take a torch to it and bent it to fit and see how it looks before actually mounting it. As for the tail light itself being in the way. Well not sure what i can do with that. I might have wasted a mount on this one. I think I may have to research a little more....

I have a mount bolted right through the rear drive fender of my X. That B*tch ain't moving for nothing. I also have a 10ft whip which is why I went with a lower mounting point than most XD. Wasn't hard to do it either. I need to get a larger spring for it though.

Remember the screws that come with this mount suck.. They will back out over time.

And I hammered the mount to the bends needed on kgb's x

I have that mount, and couldn't get it to bend well at all, so I ended up cutting it and attaching it to the side bumper plastic. A torch will probably help. I have a tire carrier now, so the mount is just chillin' on the plastic.
