So my boa branch as been bought out so I'm being forced into a small bank, so it has spurred us into looking for a new bank, Ally seems to have the best ratings and returns and people seem to either have no problems and love it or hate them. Most people that I have found that had problems were moving stacks and stack of cash moving into investments and those were a few years ago. So if you have me know what you think about them
Thanks

i researched them a lot before. they're only online so you won't be able to deposit cash straight in there. only electronic deposits like direct deposits and mobile check deposits. they pay high interest rates on certificates because they don't have any actual locations, just a call center that's open 24-7

as long as GOING to the bank isn't a common occurrence then you should be fine with them. :)

otherwise, you can always try a credit union. and, if you go out of town where your credit union isn't available, there is usually a shared branching alliance where you can conduct transactions for your credit union X at credit union Y

Another vote for Credit Unions. We have a BoA account for paying bills because I've been with them since I could hold money (back when it was Sovereign bank) plus the rest of my family has them so we can transfer money around easily.

However, the wife and I are also part of Navy Federal Credit Union. They are much more personal than BoA. I've never had an issue with them, they have national locations and any credit union in the NCUA is a free ATM. E-deposits are free, online banking is free. Great place to bank.

Aren't you in the Vegas area? There is an NFCU right outside of Nellis.

I use usaa. I love it, customer service is great. They made a deal with ups stores so you can deposit checks through the ups store into you account all you need is your debit card and the check. My main concern when I first looked at them was the lack of actual banks they have, but I'm lucky and live in San Antonio where their headquarters is but still they don't have very many atms or anything but they don't charge a fee for using other atms for like 15 times a month, I may be wrong about the amount of times.

I vote credit union...but I did have a friend that banked with Ally and he liked it.

I lived in Iowa for 15 months while maintained my accounts through Coastal Federal Credit Union (in North Carolina)...between mobile banking and direct deposits...I had no issues.

If I needed cash and wanted to avoid ATM fees....I went to the grocery store, bought a case of beer (I would probably need it anyway...) and get cash back with the debit card. Some grocery stores you don't even need to buy anything to get cash out...they can usually just swipe your card at the register for a transaction of zero dollars, and hit 20 cash back etc
