Mine rusted yrs ago and snapped. Does anyone know how they are connected to the roof rack? Do they have to be drilled out?

IIRC they are riv-nuts.
If they are, you can drill out just enough so you can push them through and replace them..
To install the new ones without a tool, you use a bolt that fits, a nut, and 2 washers
put the nut on the bolt, then the two washers, and finally fully thread the riv-nut.
insert into hole and it should fit snug
with one wrench hold the bolt head still, and with another wrench turn the nut clockwise until the riv-nut is seated (bulged on the other side like a rivet)
then grab the sweating beer that was sitting on the hood cowl.

Yeah I always call them nutserts.
Shouldn't be hard to order from mcmaster carr. The tool to insert them is nice but the screw and nut trick works well to.

Hell, I was going to drill them out and replace them with regular grommet/nutz/washer/boltz. Easier, no fuss no muss.
