A plea to all Photobucket users.....

Please. Do myself, and the many Tapatalk HD users, a favor. When you upload to Photobucket, or any image hosting site for that matter, and post image URLs here, PLEASE use the DIRECT URL to the image instead of the "link for forums" URL. I know you don't do it on purpose, but lets walk through the result of this careless image posting technique.

This is what I and many others see when you post your Photobucket pictures in Tapatalk HD:

When I see a post like this and think, "I'd like to get a closer look at that little tiny picture, I'll just click on it....."

Tapatalk HD users GET THIS!

anydymev.jpg

It loads a whole new page. That I STILL have to zoom in to see the picture effectively.

Plus,Tapatalk HD has this nice little slideshow feature that allows you to scroll through all the images posted to a single page of a thread.

Which looks like this:
9yrasuqe.jpg

It makes it REALLY easy to go through a trip report, or a list with pictures of new mods. Instead, we are left to click one picture. Wait. Zoom. Hit back. Click the next picture. Wait. Zoom. Hit back. Etc etc etc into oblivion.

I realize that when looking at it in the web view (or on a normal computer) it's impossible to tell a difference between a linked image and a direct image URL. But for those of us that use Tapatalk almost exclusively, simply copying the correct URL for the image makes the entire world a better place.

Thank you for your time.

I am on Tapatalk and I get perfect pics of my posts as you described - not links.
Do you get links from my posts you used as examples?

Prime, is that Tapa 4 you're using?
I'm on 2.4.13 and no weird links with photosuckit. I tap the pic and only the pic pops up. I can use the arrows to scroll through all the photos in the post if not the entire thread.

Okay. Now I feel the need to clarify. It appears that this is a Tapatalk HD problem. I do not get this at all on my Android phone in either version (2.4 or 4).

I guess the reason I notice it so much is that I use my iPad almost exclusively just for its ease of use.

Yes. The second screenshot is what I get on my iPad every single Photobucket image post. The 3rd screenshot is what I get when I lose the "URL" tag around the "IMG" tag. Which IMO is the way it should be. The "IMG" tag should not be surrounded by a "URL" tag. When it is, clicking the image takes me to another page.

It also does it on the computer, but there is no need to click the image because it is full size in a regular browser.

Photobucket recently updated their [ IMG ] copy option to wrap their img tags with url tags. I for one don't like that it does it, but I don't know if people can do a whole lot about it when they copy using that function. I guess you could copy the url then use the sites url option, but when posting a dozen pictures that gets time consuming.

So: When I do that ^

On Tapa 2.4.13 on Android I see two nice pics that work normally.

On Internet Explorer (PC) I see a link and a pic.

I ran out of Tapa hosted pics so I guess one of these days I will re-up to get more.

Photobucket users: To fix this do the following:

Click on "Update Link Options"
link_options_zps20776f8c.png

Under options uncheck "Link Back Option"
linkback_zps4f1f5c5b.png

This will stop the [-URL]
[-/URL] wrapping.

I'm NOT saying don't do this!!!! This is a caution more so about how you load photos from Photo Bucket. You should always use the DIRECT URL option and load each photo separately. I've come to find out that some photo's after being loaded allowed me to access that persons ENTIRE LIBRARY by scrolling from that single photo. Don't know if that was on purpose or not but I did see a few things I most likely should have not seen. Just a warning.

This is in Big Fork. It's the trails I use to get from Signal Mountain where I live to Suck Creek Mountain the dirty way. If we have time I'll take you there next time you're down this way. I'll have some daytime video of this area up as soon as I get my other computer back.

BTW, my bumper mouth camera mount concept phase is complete. Now I just need to fine tune. I burned through 3 of the $4 camera mounts from walmart to get there.

Now I just need to go take a look at all the other pictures I've posted recently and get rid of the URL link parts. Any idea how long Photobucket has been doing the link back thing?

Thanks for posting this up, would have had no idea. Went back and changed the few pics I have posted since the change was made and changed my settings so hopefully it will no longer happen. And just for the heck of it to make sure I got everything right...
