A rear window like 4runners were they are able to roll them down. my dog likes to stick his head out of windows and was almost the reason i bought a 4runner over an X.

Did the Bronco get that feature before Toyota? I'm not sure, noob to both cars personally.

I loved Bronco's wish they still made them...and not that Bronco 2 crap. I would love an Xterra with a rolling rear window and drop down tailgate with an option for a hard or soft top. I do miss sitting on a tailgate during a bonfire. I think my idea is transforming the Xterra to much though.

Well since we're blue skyin here:

1: An armor package option - Front bumper w/ winch mount, tow points, places for offroad lights. Rear bumper w/ swing arm tire mount (33's), Hilift Jack mount, Jerry can mounts. REAL Skid plated, Sliders.

2: Drive train options: ARB Air lockers w/Air, Gearing options in the 5:nn range, Creeper gears for 4lo.

3: Steering options: Beefier steering setups if IFS system.

4: Suspension options: 1"-3" SL's, 1"-3" BL's, Extended lines and hoses.

Basically anything that an offroader would upgrade to in order to make his/her offroading better I think Nissan should offer some of it... the basics at least... numbers 1,2 and 4.

And have it so that getting a 3" SL isn't dependant on getting the upgraded sound system or the drive train option doeen't require getting eletric locks and windows... and so on.

If the upgrades to driveline could be done without increasing cost, great, if not.....I have no desire to see the xterra hit the landcruiser price range...or even get farther into Jeep price range...

An armor package would be cool, but, I'd hate to see what they'd charge for it...

I didn't think the 2nd gen X had steering strength problems...

I think there should be nismo parts for the X in general...

I know; I was just referring to when they actually made parts for us.

I'd like to see a Nismo Xterra/Frontier catalog with shocks/coilovers/leaf springs and lift kits, wheels, engine bolt-ons (intake, exhaust, IMS, throttle body, ignition coils, injectors, etc.), clutch/flywheel upgrades, shifter, ring/pinion gear sets, hell, even lighting upgrades. Basically the stuff they make for the Z, but oriented toward off-road performance.

I feel armor upgrades are best left to the aftermarket, but if Nismo wanted to include that as well, I wouldn't complain.

Ahh, gotcha....

I was speaking from a GEN1 owner's perspective. I don't claim to know anything about GEN2's.

As far as pricing...what I posted was all optional equipment. A base line model I agree shouldn't be pricey but at least offer some of the things people add aftermarket wise.

Not trying to take any business from our WONDERFUL and OUTSTANDING SPONSORS that we LOVE SO DEARLY!!!!

Gen2 fixed gen1's steering issues....

Even in options packages, once you get an xterra into the price range of a rubicon, you've lost most buyers, because as an offroad rig, the Rubi has a much better longstanding reputation...you'll only have diehard enthusiasts willing to buy it. I'd say those packages would be best as aftermarket purchase bundles....like nismo kits or something like that...

No idea if anyone has posted this but it would be cool to have what jeep and ram have, where your truck lowers in the highway to improve mpg and raises at low speeds

It would be cool, however air ride systems aren't cheap from what I've seen, essentially that's what that is. Could add big $$ onto the price tag? I'd rather them give up the SAS option kit!

Yes and no.

On the new Dodge Ram, you can set the ride height manually as well. I played with it a lot during our press tour of the new trucks. I was able to set it at 4" above normal ride height. When I looked at the mounts for the airbags, I could see where a lift company could make some lift components for the adjustable ride equipped vehicles and retain the adjustability.

But it was really cool to get to highway speeds and feel the truck lower. And when you come to a complete stop and put it into park, it lowers even more for egress.

It is something else that could fail in the future though.

I suppose that'd work if you were to put a spacer in above them...hopefully the lines and fittings and everything is steel and the bags themselves are shielded so that rocks/sand/mud/dirt/crap can't get into there and poke a hole...suddenly losing 4" of ground clearance on the trail would suck horribly. independent control would be nice though, kick up the front end to clear the bumper over an obstacle then drop it down and raise the rear to keep yourself as close to the rocks as possible....

I could see a kit coming out for that too. A height sensor interrupt that would tell the height computer that the back end is too low, lift it up (that system does have a load leveling system on it that will raise the back end if you put weight in it) and then go back to normal when you're over the rock or parking curb. :D
