So much for the nothing you don't need theory. Let just hope they don't ever make it anything like the new Pathfinder. I think 4 Wheel & Off-Road said it best with their title of "The Pathfinder has lost the path."

Every single one of those pics from the link in the OP looks like it was taken of my 2012. Nothing looks different. I'd really like to see pics of the factory nav option, which will hopefully be backwards compatible with a 2012. Just hoping...

Call me crazy, but in my mind the Pro4X is the creme de la creme for off roading for nissan. Maybe it's my purist thinking, but they are adding too many superfluous things to the Pro4X that takes away from its base meaning of off roading. I think they should go back to the S, SE and OR models and put all the fru-fru stuff on the SE model and leave the OR as the off roading beast it should be. Who needs leather to off road? *sigh*

yea mel im with ya. i like my base model with manual locks and windows. i hate back up cameras thats what a steel bumper is for

Exactly! Though, I admittedly enjoy my auto windows when I have to pop open my folding mirrors and stuff, haha. I just feel that a vehicle with lockers does not need fru-fru things. It's one or the other. It makes me sad (and extremely jealous) to see so many OR/Pro4X's out there as grocery getters. What a waste of a locker (which I desperately want).

Looks like the beginnings of the Pathy path for the X... not good IMHO.

I'm happy they still have the X around and seem to plan to keep it around. But yeah, let's hope it does not go down the path of glorified soccer mom/grocery-getter mobile like the pathfinder has/was.

If they want to add those things without significantly altering the price, then that's great. But considering the competitors (Jeep and Toyota) are offering those options, it's prudent for Nissan to do so in order remain competitive. In dash nav should be an available option in every vehicle on the market, IMO. Heated seats and back up camera should be dealer installed accessories.

Bottom line, as long as the Xterra stays on a ladder frame with a part time, low range transfer case, it's golden. The market may shrink, but there will always be a segment of the public (US!) that craves such a vehicle.

I have no problems with this spec list. Factory nav for the win. It still has all of the 4x4 kit. Locker, solid frame, selectable low range box, & roof lights. Sure, they could be throwing rock rails & more skids but the could also be going to unibody, IRS, full time AWD, and less ground clearance. Hell, they could be dropping the whole truck. They added some features to compete in the market and sell trucks. I'm glad it's still being made.

Good points. I have no problem with being made a bit more comfy as long as it doesn't come at the cost of off road performance. I can surely appreciate the need to stay competitive. We don't want our Xterras to go away just because they don't have similar options and pricing as the competition.

keeping in mind that almost all of the features that're stock on a pro4x/OR package xterra are on most rubicons on a dealer lot, and often the rubi has MORE pointless crap, their huge media center stereo system for example...sure, it's cool to have an onboard 20GB HDD to load music to, BUT, when that's all they ship to the dealership, that's terrible. The local dealership said they'd never gotten a 4dr rubi in that didn't have the nav/entertainment/etc package and that's a $1600 add on. mind you, the rubi's price tag is higher than the X's but....not THAT much higher...don't complain about nice stuff being added stock because you're buying the "offroad" model, they're just making it more appealing to buy, because most wives don't understand the point of a locker and the other couple of tweaks that the OR/P4X package comes with, and it's a $3000 price hike over a stock one...
