05 Acura MDX

Picked up a 2005 Acura MDX touring for the wife... black on black with all the options. I already blacked out the rear emblems and the wheels. Still need to get the front windows tinted to match, black out the grill and all the bottom splash plastic, also planning on doing the door handles. She's in excellent condition right at 105K. These have the same "strawberry milkshake" issue as the second gen X's... I already have a new radiator and a external tranny cooler for the bypass.

I've loved the MDX for a long time and I use to work at an Acura dealer back in 05 so that's when I first got to drive these. This is my 3rd Acura and it's a great safe vehicle for the wife and kids.. they are fantastic vehicles.

No actually there's more room in the back seat than the Xterra... and it has a 3rd row. It's much more of a grocery getter, family vehicle than the X but that's the point. I'm still thinking about what to do with the tail lights... I want to black them out but there's this one cop, the only cop in town that gives tickets for it. I've never had a problem blacking out tail lights till I moved here. Maybe just a shade darker...

VHT Niteshade. I could also see you dropping a very very subtle digital camo on this.. like this shiny black, a matte black and then like a deep gray.

that's weird that it needs that bypass. do the pilots require the same bypass??

Yes they do...

While this thread is open I'll let you all know what happened on our way to Colorado. So the transmission was replaced on the MDX at 80K because of the coolant mixing in. Well they forgot to add fluid to the transfer case and it seized on me at about 75 MPH. We were 3 hours from Denver when the drive shaft sheared, loud pop followed by loud racking.

I pulled off the exit and into a gas station. Called my buddy at Ralph Schomp Honda in Littleton CO. He told me to remove the drive shaft and put it on a dolly to his dealer. So my Dad got a dolly and came and got it. He ordered the transfer case and the part of the drive shaft that sheared. Gave me a Ridgeline for a few days and had it fixed for the cost of the transfer case. I threw the tech that installed it some cash and we were good to go. I was lucky to have a friend at the dealer and his boss just so happened to have a son in the Navy so they hooked me up.

Anyways.. that happened. Not a big deal but it did slow us down a bit. We made it back to Washington on Friday with no problems.

wow, that is an annoying turn of events while traveling across the US. I am glad that it worked out for you better than it would have for most people, though. if it happened to me, I would still be stuck and walking on my way hahaha. I am a jinx with that stuff!
