Iirc the cobra can't be a stand alone unit, but it does have weather and with 2 ant. Boxes in 2 different rigs you can swap the hand unit. I have the cobra and I like it used it for Moab and when on the highway. The weather on it is pretty handy as well.
Sent from the Nighthog mobile command unit.
I went and ordered the Midland.. about 20.00 cheaper.. The frugal in me loves that lol...
Should be in next week some time...
Just saw this... probably a good choice I like that it can be used as a handheld. When you start shopping for antenna mounts if you haven't already look into the k400-3/8c cant recall who makes it right now but you should be able to Google search that and find it.
I want a how to on this David!
Plug in... and .... Play
Thats one reason why I went with this one... I dont mind drilling holes
But I like the idea of hiding this one.. Only thing ill need to hide is the cable to the antenna..
You think in the center console ?
Hey Dave, anything to report on this? You intended it for the 2nd gen right?
I'm currently in the same debate over the same 2 radios. I was leaning heavily toward the Cobra, as it's a nice completely hidden install.
However the Midland now is gaining favor is it would make a perfect unit to get dual use from between my X and Bronco, no need to buy a 2nd CB, just an antenna install, at least in the short term, less I find I need a CB in the vehicle and hand off the Midland to a spotter.
Specifically, does it clutter up much? Part of my initial preference for the Cobra was getting all cables out of sight under the center console, with the Midland unit I'd have to plug it in the 12v port, and have an antenna cord dangling out somewhere. If I want to run an aux cable to the head unit I have a 3rd cord.
