Hit a snow drift this past weekend & got quite stuck. The tree I originally was winching to was decently sized but had weak roots, so I started to tear it out. I felt terrible
The next one was outside of my winch cable range by about 10 feet. I had to extended it with a tow-strap. More frequently than I would like, I feel my winch line (90 feet) is just a bit too short and I have to do weird pulls to get to a good tree I can actually reach. I wouldn't mind a 50-60 foot winch extension.
Problem is, they are expensive! Like $130-$250 expensive. What's the deal? What is wrong with just using my non-stretchy $20 tow strap? Only thing I can imagine is that a synthetic-rope extension can be used with a snatch block. Do any of ya'll have an extension you like and can recommend?
Masterpull 50 footer: $245
ARB 60 footer: $130
Warn 50 footer: $160
