Im about to rip my ecobee off the wall. Worked fine last year and this winter...now its like it wont cool...****ing 80 in here when its set to 72
I just turned my honeywell on for the first time this summer. It's taking awhile to cool but that could be due to the insulation in this house

I'm using that firestik fire ring thing...no extra grounding cable needed so they say.
That's only if the surface you're mounting to has a good ground. And a powder coated bumper does not.

You need to pull one of the bumper bolts, scrape off the powder, reattach the bolt and paint over it. That will create a good ground for the bumper.

The same needs to be done to the underside of the bumper where the coax attaches.

Should have bought a Nest.

F nest. I think my wife tinkered and is afraid to tell me. But its now 81 in here. No signs of cool. I tried calling support but of course forever on hold.

As for the cb are you saying i need to run another wire? Bc Im not following. The ring is supposed to be all in 1. If I have to buy a regular cb wire just say so.

No, you don't NEED another wire. One side of the ring is hot the other side is ground. The ground side needs to contact a good metal ground on the truck. Since the bumper is powder coated, there is no good ground on it.

You have two options. A ground wire from the ground side of the ring to a good ground on the truck or remove a bolt from the bumper, grind off the powder coating. Put the bolt back in. And do the same where the ring attaches to the bumper.
