I am getting excited...too bad we have another 6 months of waiting!

And that trail 3 looks pretty gnarly...that is one of those trails where...like...I could maybe get by or find a way through...but it would be so slow and bone jarring that I wouldn't even enjoy it...that's not even counting the emotional distress of worrying about breaking things in the rocks!

Man...I need to get off road here SOON :)

I can't wait either, I keep going back and looking at pics from the past 2 years to relive the awesomeness of it all, this year will be even more epic.

Yep,still gotta install locker and diff drop bushings.
Got skids on the way and gonna get do it yourself Trailgear sliders.
Think I might order AC UCA's and install the shackles I made.
Contemplating making front bumper (pre-runner style but with square stock),gonna do hitch flip on rear bumper.

Winch would be nice too.

I may need new tires before September... but i also want new wheels... some one wanna give me about $1500? lol

Pretty sure i'm going to need tires too, by september this set of mt/rs will have about 55k miles on them and thats about all i'm going to get out of them.

I will say this for everyone that hasn't been before, don't feel like you have to mod your truck and get this part or that part before you can attend, you can have fun regardless of what is done to your rig. You also don't want to have too much on your plate and rush everything last minute like I did with my over complicated OBA last year that while functional wasn't finished to my liking.

But that OBA system powered an amazingly obnoxious air horn lol.

\

but you did have the train horn hooked up so it was worth it just so we could hear it.

I ran the difficult group last year, and the only time I had trouble was when I didnt give enough skinny pedal trying to creep over something and had to bump it a few times, I got lucky that I had enough clearance to not scrub on anything, and didnt need skids, but on this trail I wouldnt do it in a second gen without a full set of skids and sliders. I wouldnt attempt it in a first gen without 33's and 3" lift preferably with skids because the difference between me clearing the rocks and having to literally slide down them with both front tires air borne was just one good rain storm to wash some of the dirt out.

I know a lot of people are investigating new tires and the possibility of new wheels. I just wanted to share my recent purchasing experience as I recently just got a whole new set. I did really good using www.Jegs.com and was able to get Black Rock Steelies and Kumho Road Venture MTs (285/75R16) shipped for $1180 (you still need to get them mounted/balanced so tack on another $40+/-) or if you'll be okay with a louder and mildly shorter treadlife, you could go for Interco Super Swamper IROK NDs (285/75R16) for $620 (from 4wheelparts.com) and have the whole she-bang for under $1000. It's not giving you $1500, but it is making it $500 cheaper, lol.

Very well put man...

Mirage, Xterror04 and I have all wheeled Windrock in stock form... We all hit the park in 09 for the first time and basically Windrock has shaped how we built our rigs..
Both Gen Xterras in stock forum will amaze you in how capable they are. I personally always wheel my trucks in stock forum so I get a base of where Im at and allow it to shape my goals for it.

I did Duratracs and steel rims from discount tire for under 900.00 in 2011.. So you are right, These things can be done with in a budget.

Skid Plates
I still want to get my front end lifted and a nice Bucksnort rear bumper before WENT. I want to get the front end done before the seXTERRA Spring Fling in April. Bumper in May, if everything goes as planned. Maybe skids before September, but I doubt it. They are definitely the next major mod after the Bucksnort bumper. I won't need them for WENT but I want them for the protection. They will put my wife's mind more at ease.........

Hopefully I'll be coming....quick question. Would I be ok on say, the intermediate group with sliders and no skids and 2"lift. I'm used to the land of sand and tree roots...not a whole lot of rocks around here. At least not like up there.

I am thinking the same thing regarding skids...I mean ... I am definitely above Beginner status...and I know they had previously said the beginner group will get worked in to the intermediate group on day 2 and 3...so you don't have much alternative.

I am counting on an "easy way out" for a few of the obstacles and some good spotters...or I will just make some skids and carry 10 sets of tie rods.

I just always end up breaking things on rocks ... and being 7 hours from home, something just makes me think a rock is going to punch straight through my oil pan :zomg:

Yea, I only do beginner stuff. Even if I had armor I still wouldn't take that big of a risk being 10+ hours away from home. I just enjoy being there. I would love to have armor just as a piece of mind.

Yes do not worry about skids for the mid group.. Would they help? Sure but you will be fine... We will not take people to places to hard to break..

That's Luke's group lol..

If you have never been here get your feet wet and maybe next year you will have a better view of the park..

Also I'm about to post up a review of the trails we are going to run on the web site.. I'll try to post video too

Getting the feet wet is the key...I think mainly for me it is the fear of the unknown. I am sure I will get there and be like...OK this was easy...no problem-O :tunes:
