Xterraminator's Build (SAS)

Thanks guys. The other day I even impressed the Jeep guys. It was a fun build and would do it again. Not the chop but the sas for sure. Next one would be on a 2nd gen. This truck will eventually get upgraded when the time comes such as different axle in the front to run 37's, full air locker and early next spring a winch goes in. Today we have a bid xterra meet so I will post pics later. After driving it the one night a sas sure has advantages in knarly places. Keeping all 4 wheels on the ground sure makes a difference! Just love it. Thanks to you all for the support, youtube and google images made it happen.

So yesterday had a shake down with some other xterra's. Sunny and hot day. The sas proven to be awesome in the trails. The trail we did had some lines that I would not even try with a stock setup. With a sas and all 4 wheels on the ground I was totally shocked how it handled. Its like I had lockers but I didn't. Loving the flex. Some parts I would normally spin out and have trouble but not now, just crawls through. Here is another flex pic at our destination.

It is just you or maybe I'm lucky but it works for me. Try shift Enter.

BTW your build is one of the craziest one's that is well documented here. Great job and keep the pictures coming. Some video would not hurt either....

can i get some better pics of how you made that bumper work on the xterra. something like that would work fairly well for the ideas I have had for a front bumper with dom fender protectors coming off it and connecting to the sliders.

So the other night went out to flex again, took some measurements. Based on the length I need the limit straps will be about 16" long. This is taking into account 1" stretch over time. I will post some pics when it is done.

I take it out on the road almost every day. It survived a 3 hr road trip so everything is good. It's been raining alot and Gabe been busy so not much time to go offroading. I need to take couple of hours and re - tighten everything up.

What is it that breaks/is a problem if it has more than that amount of travel?

I think he may be referring to needing limiting straps. Not sure though. But since I'm thinking about it, did you put them on and what kind did/are you going with. Sorry if I missed it. Sent via my walkie talkie

TJTJ not sure what you mean? Nothing has broke.

You are talking about adding limit straps....and, there's one reason to DO that, which is BECAUSE if you don't, the over travel damages something...so, I was wonder what that was, IE: The potential damage you were avoiding by adding the straps.

So if the coil guides were longer or the coils would not misalign on compression after droop, you could have more wheel travel?

Went wheeling with the jeep guys, least to say they were very impressed. I could easily overflex the truck more than they could. I think their opinion on xterra's changed. Went up a hill called Hamburger Hill, Steep creek bed with big rocks and at the end a small rock bluff called the waterfall. Last year I only got 1/8th up. This year 100%. Was very happy. Few poser pics.
