steeze is a beast

Loved both of his trucks. I preferred the first gen more though. I can't wait to see what happens with this truck. I didn't realize Iguanna chopped the back off his. He shows up to hardrock sometimes.
Xterraminator, check out SASXA's build. He's got a pretty hefty sas build going right now, too. If you're eventually looking to go Iguanna's style of build.

Thanks I will do so.

I do have for sale some rear tail lights if anyone needs them.

When I removed the fuel tank I was overwhelmed at how much tubing and electrical wiring with sensors is under the truck just for the fuel system. That all has to be removed and re-used somehow.

I also noticed under the truck some items that not sure what purpose they serve. For example near the mufflers you will see a metal plate with a round rubber disk attached to it?? Purpose??? There are a few of them. I want to get rid of them. If it is not used it gets removed.

Do you still have the tail lights? I need a second set

Man, I'm late to the party here! Haha. Looking great man! Can't wait to see where it goes...

I think I'm more intreged by the chop than the SAS haha

Same here, the chop will be challenging but if I really engineer it right, look at different options should not be too bad. Will have to support the multiple layers of walls on the side, trim everything, add support tubing then the wall and window, should be fine. Might look at something removable for those sunny days.

Do you know if you can get a 4.88 gear ratio for the stock axle? I have to look into this. The only thing I don't like about the stock rear dif it does not have a rear cover. To get it apart it has to be done from the other side.

Stock xterra 4x4 had either 4.6, or 4.9 gear ratios, you can check your door build info decal it will say axle then either hg46 (meaning 4.6 gears) or hg49(meaning 4.9 gears)... If you have the 4.9 you could run that with a 4.88 front..

I'm on 33's and and gearing to 5.13 just to keep stock ratio though.. Just food for thought

The factory axle is pretty bullet proof, sure the diff cover is on the front but it only take 4 bolts to rove the driveshaft then your at the housing

With a Dana 30 in the front I believe the highest is 4.88. If that is the case I could use the rear axle and use the following:

Just for clarification:
You can use 5.13s in your D30, but it would require a carrier swap. What did it come from? I'm wondering why you chose the D30 whether it be money, familiarity, or convenience. I ask because the D30 comes as the front axle for a large assortment of Jeeps. I know a lot of Jeep owners like to swap it out.

Came out of a 1987 cherokee. Its a D30, the back is a D35C, 3.55 gears.

The other issue is the stock axle uses 6 bolts the d30 used 5 bolts. Would have to get different wheels for the back. Would be ok, just look funny.

I guess I ask why not a D44 or a Ford 9" (both have different WMS), but you clarified that it all came out of the same vehicle.

5.38 that would be sweet! Options, options and options. Keeping the stock axle would be nice and would save money. could gear the front to match the stock back.

I'm sure you're aware, but gears and lockers are more expensive for the H233b, but they are tough as nails. I was going to run 5.13s, but if you ever plan to run it on the road, I'd probably suggest 5.38s to compensate and readjust for the 3.3L V6 that has been slapped into our 4300lb bricks.

D30 and D35 are weak even for wranglers.. People snap spider gears in that d35 on 33s.. Seen it and been there.. These axels are real 1/4 ton axels.. Hb233 is like a d44 so it seems you are going down instead if up.
I'm wondering why you didn't weld supports in the body before cutting the body up. Maybe you did and I can not see it in the pix.
That body can warp with out the support if what you cut off..

Please do not feel like other with questions are hating on you.. There is always a new way to think and do.. I think most are wondering why so they can learn

Agreed. I'm trying to decide on an SAS and all this conversation about gears and Dana's are pure gold for me

For the axles are 3.55. Once everything is done, drive if for a year or so then I will install something bigger when money is available.

3.55s are some short gears for the 3.3. The truck came with 4.60 and 4.90 from the factory. That's a pretty substantial drop in gear ratio. You'll be WAY outside of the power band.

/unless I missed it and you're doing a v8 swap too
//if so, carry on

I'm gonna give a reason to throw back to da build.

What is the plan or the rear. I saw you said tube style but are you exoing the entire truck orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr WHA?..

Not exoing the truck, don't like that look. That's more for a rocky crawler buggy look. The picture was just to show what it would look like.

Decided to stay with the rear axle (4.6) and re-gear the front dana axle. Doing this will save me some money in not having to re-do alot of work in the back. Perch mounts will have to be removed and replaced on the top to do the axle inversion.

Started to work on closing in the back. Keep you in suspense eh?? Pics will be posted when they are done.

He's gonna regear the front to match the factory rear 4.6. I saw this in person last weekend, looks like it's gonna turn out sweet. Thanks again for the axle ;)

KBC you got it. Great to see you the other day. Hope that axle works out for you and the kid is happy? I am sure he is.

Ya he spent a few hours when we got home running all the cars down his track, picking them up and doing it all over again.

Some latest shots. Been very busy with other projects so whenever I have the time I make the most of it. As you can see all the edges have been trimmed d everything is lining up right. Yes that is the backhatch. KBC gave me the idea and I went with it. Gives a lot of support and has a window.
