I'm torn (ha, get it?). I got this (Titan) CV only a couple years ago. This is the inside joint, and when you spread the boot apart you can start to see some cracking. No leaking yet, though.

CVs are cheap but not that cheap. What would you guys do?

- New CV is about $100
- New boots/grease/clamps are around $50, but the process is super messy
- Leave it, maybe it will last another 2 years, maybe it will last a month?

What if you coated the outside with a little marine grease where it's cracking ??
For only a $50 difference I think I'd get the new - install - then buy the boot ,fix the old one - put on shelf for a spare .
Just my 2 cent's

Lol. This is annoying. Installed everything & took it for a short test drive. Well I heard this really stupid clicking sound ONLY while in 4WD, and it was seemingly initiated while turning. It feels like it was coming from the side with the questionable CV. Here is the sound:

And here is what the OUTER side of the boot looks like. I'm thinking I'll just replace it after all............... glad that I get to drop the diff again!

Wouldn't it be easier to pop the top ball joint?

I'll keep this for rehab later, but I got a deal on free next-day shipping & $20 off a Duralast axle from AutoZone. So I couldn't pass it up... worth trying something other than the RockAuto cardone axles anyway
