I still have the first rifle I ever owned.
Yep, I've still got my first rifle from dad.
I taught the wife how to shoot hoping to get her into my sport. I originally thought that was a good thing when she fell in love with the 686. A business and endless more firearms followed.
She went from liking sandals, belts, boots, clothes, etc. to wanting her own firearms. "Your shotgun is too big, this shotgun is too small" "I like these $300 grips for my new revolver" "It's more fun to shoot at these high dollar color changing targets, the white and black ones are boring"
Yeah, those weren't the dayz~

I'm fairly certain this was the only Christmas gift that my father picked out for me.
To be honest, some of the fondest memories of my youth included taking this rifle hunting with both my Father and Grandfather.

Surely its been fired thousands of times and been carried across every inch of woods that I could gain access on.
To look at it today, you will notice more than a few blemishes on the wood stock along with some thinning of the color on the barrel.

Nowadays, I rarely shoot it anymore.
I will take it out of the vault on occasion, clean any dust from it and oil it down once again.
I cannot help but to get sentimental as I hold it in my lap.

The wife will occasionally see me holding this old gun and let me know "If your not going to hunt with that old gun, why dont you sell it."

She would never understand, even if I tried to explain it to her

That seems cold blooded as hell.

See this is a difficult subject after 21 years of being with my wife and married 17 years of it she still doesn't understand anything I do.
Like with her family they have all but her one sister has ignored (as would not even say hello to me if we went to visit) me since we have been married, so I basically just stopped going with her to visit them. I tell her I will have a better time sitting at home by myself than being ignored at her family's house. To be fair I try to get out of going to my family's houses also because they annoy me most of the time.
She hates when I warn her not to go into the bathroom for a while; I'm just being thoughtful.
She and both my daughters definitely doesn't understand why I try to learn how to do new things all the time. I try to tell them that it could be a useful skill to have in the future. Besides not learning new things makes life boring.
She also doesn't understand why generally do put a lot of faith in people. She gets burned by people she turns the other cheek but I give a big F.U. and that person is not a part of my life anymore.
She definitely doesn't understand why I like being alone.
I'm sure I'll think of other things.

So a little update to what ive posted about....i finally got my little solar generator finished up. Added a 1000W pure sine wave inverter with quick disconnects so i dont have to carry it all at once. The GF saw me in the floor with a fan running from it so i explained what i just did....she just looks at me and goes ".......ok" i told her it benifits her if we lose power we can run a fan and if i make it bigger we can use a window ac.....she just goes "well youre gonna do it no matter what i say"

Basically she doesnt care for it but sees how it benefits her and doesnt understand how it works or why i bothered dumping money into it.
