I know the two are not comparable. But I want to get one and bring it on my trip and try to learn to cook with it I have never used either and have seen both being used before.

I will be cooking over a fire sometimes and other times over a stove. I already have 3 different cast iron skillets to cook in and a few different pots.

Which one do you think would be better served during my trip and why.
1. Wok
2. Dutch Oven

have you used a dutch oven? I've never used one, so i don't know how different cooking is in them but i know you can use soap to clean them

Dutch oven cooking is great, Ive made peach cobbler in it, pound cake and a lot of other great items. Thats the way I would go

Dutch oven. Last October when I went camping in Arkansas I cooked a pot roast for my guys in a dutch oven that was buried in the coals of the previous night's fire. It was one of the best roasts I've ever made and the guys all said it was the best thing we cooked all weekend. And that was a weekend that we also smoked a chicken and some ribs (my friends who lives in Arkansas brought his propane powered smoker to the campsight).

Dutch ovens are very versatile. You can deep fry in them, roast, bake....pretty much whatever you want. Woks are cool, but kind of limited. Hell, I use a dutch oven at home more than any other pot or pan, and I have two woks that I barely ever use.

Discada for grill, skillet, griddle stuff and a Dutch oven for baking. As awesome as Dutch ovens are, they can be a real PITA to set up and clean up. I usually bring mine on trips where I know I'll be doing a lot of loafing around camp.

Wow, It looks like it is universal on the Dutch Oven. Now off to find a small one. I don't need a large one when cooking for 1.

Rok, The Discarda is a great thing, But I prefer my cast skillets. I'm just cooking for 1 99% of the time.

They each have advantages, I picked up old steel wok at a garage sale and welded three nuts on the bottom. Using bolts as legs I can cook over almost any fire.

I like to take both, If i am not cooking in the wok it makes a great bowl. So that is just one more thing that I dont have to bring.

I don't know much about Dutch ovens but I've used a disco so many times and they are incredible. I can understand in your circumstance that the Dutch oven would be better because of already having cast iron skillets for eggs and whatnot.

If you do decide to get a disco someday the site I've been recommended is this one.

I plan on getting a setup this year.

I will say one of the coolest and best cobblers I've ever had was in a dutch oven though.
