i could tell big time this last tank full mileage is down. due to the colder weather and winter gas blend. i love that 4.0 no complaints. but sometimes you think you are filling up a 8cyl. averaged about 17.2 this week. my commute is roughly 250 miles/week. 85% hiway. 15% city.

I'm in the upper 16's recently. I can only assume winter gas and cold temps is doing it, but I've been trying to make sure it's not mechanical. Last winter it never really got that cold here in KY, and my mileage never got that much worse.

The X is great, perfect size for me, but it sometimes is annoying to think people in full size trucks are getting better mpg's.

Just calculated my latest tank at 16.5mpg's. Mostly highway with a little bit of city towards work. But I've been letting it warm up a little bit in the mornings. I did notice though that at slower speeds, with ice and snow on the ground (go figure, it's frickin' wintatime!) that my mileage is worse than when I'm doing closer to summatime speeds. Seems that the engine likes to be a little higher in the rpm range to get the better mileage. My next tank will be with nicer weather, so my speeds will pick back up and I won't be letting it sit and warm up as much. So this next week will be telling.

OMG I get 13.5 to 15. I only have 2500 on my 2013 so I am hoping it breaks in. The only thing I have done is put a meatier tire on but not taller. I have put a hefty bumper on and winch but used the synthetic rope to save on weight. Somewhere I saw someone say they gained 2 mpg on a voilant cai. I have a serious issue with believing that. What do you all think about the cai?

I have heard people say similar things. If anything would be moving the right direction it would be the CAI.

What worked on my 2000 xterra was adding 4 oz of acetone every time I filled the gas tank, and the first month I was really easy with the gas pedal. I know it is a subject that will create lots of opinions but worked for me. I am thinking very seriously doing it in my 2007

$54 fill up friday. This is 99% just for the commute to work per week. Got to find a closer job! LOL. But i'll take the X over some watered down SUV anytime.

Expect it to get better after a few more miles. Mine took till about 5-6K miles. Sadly it is what it is. CIA? cant say. I run synthetic oil and and drop in dry-flow air filter.
