Winch Line Extensions

Hit a snow drift this past weekend & got quite stuck. The tree I originally was winching to was decently sized but had weak roots, so I started to tear it out. I felt terrible :(

The next one was outside of my winch cable range by about 10 feet. I had to extended it with a tow-strap. More frequently than I would like, I feel my winch line (90 feet) is just a bit too short and I have to do weird pulls to get to a good tree I can actually reach. I wouldn't mind a 50-60 foot winch extension.

Problem is, they are expensive! Like $130-$250 expensive. What's the deal? What is wrong with just using my non-stretchy $20 tow strap? Only thing I can imagine is that a synthetic-rope extension can be used with a snatch block. Do any of ya'll have an extension you like and can recommend?

Masterpull 50 footer: $245
ARB 60 footer: $130
Warn 50 footer: $160

This website here seems to offer a bunch of different types of winch line extensions and replacement lines. I’ve never ordered from them though since shipping g to Canada is a bit expensive

I have always used my non stretchy tow straps and attach a snatch block to it if needed. I just make sure they are rated high enough and in good shape.

Yea might have thought of it.. But could your have dug a Dead-man in that area, for a slow moving anchor point?.

Certainly, but that always feels like a last-resort option given the time involved. I would have sooner started digging out the snow than digging for an anchor lol

I just ordered this one in 50 feet and ORANGE of course. It was one of the cheaper options ($110) with sufficient breaking strength.

I think that combined with some of my non-stretchy tow straps (I have a 20 footer & a 10 footer) I should have the extension that I need - 80 feet in total.
