so I am trying to decide which way to mount roof lights. I am trying to decide between two different options:

Swapping our current pro 4x roof lights with 4" hella HID lights and then adding 2 more between them. Here is a picture of someone doing it.

OR

Keeping the current stock off road lights and custom fabricating mounts so I can fit a 40" single row led light bar just low enough to clear the stock roof lights. I would also make some type of glare shield also.

So basically those are two options I am looking into, and I would like to know what all of you guys think the way I should go is. I am also open to other suggestions too.

Did you want the lighting for off roading/trail illumination, or for seeing out past your current high beam range?

The bars tend to put a lot of light close up, good for trails, but too hard on your night vision for long range, and the spots tend to be best for just adding light way out where the headlights can't reach.

I was hoping to kind of have a little of both if that is possible. I am kind of leaning towards the 40" bar because it could provide trail lighting whereas the stock off road lights could still provide a spot beam.

I put a 24" light bar in front bumper. It outshines my 4 spot lights on top and my high beams by distance and clarity. I love it and will be replacing the 4 up top with a 40" bar. Go led bro. There is a downside. They are bright enough to to glare off anything and everything. Might be a little too bright. Also unless your solo or up front in a group there too bright to use.

You can also get a HID that has a european beam which is between a spot and a flood pattern, good range but also defused enough that it helps up close.
