I have moved all of my “all the time stuff” over from my old truck, and it got me thinking to see what else everyone rolls with on a daily basis. I always have- Patch kit High capacity pump & an air down tool Medium mechanics bag full of assorted hand tools 50pc socket set Recovery straps/shackles Shovel Saw 72hr emergency bag First aid kit Thermarest Z rest Sleeping bag Oil/coolant/bulbs/fuses/belts Garmin Inreach in glovebox This stuff just tucks away nicely behind the D/S rear seat in the cargo area. I also have a 2 step folding step ladder for access to my ski box that sits on top of it all and corrals it all together. When I load up for camping, I just put it all across the back of the seats in the cargo bay, and it leaves plenty of room for my totes that transport my camping set up (cdn army barracks boxes x3).
My list is pretty similar. All of my recovery gear lives in the truck as well as a full socket set, wrenches, a few spares, hilift, and lug wrench.
I have a very similar list plus recovery gear. I don't keep my spare CVs or alternator in there all the time though. I also have a bucket with hammock, tarp, lantern, single stove, and some gear to get me through the night should I decide to stay somewhere. I have a soft side cooler, axe, shovel and Hi-Lift under the back seat and a tarp in the wet box too.
What is in your X every time you leave the driveway? Me, and a small mechanics tool set. Oh, cell phone and an extra charger
Add a double insulated Stanley growler to that list. Picked it up today because all year I've been wishing I could have one with me when we checked out little breweries.
Too bad it doesn't stay in the vehicle very long when driving... Got the usual, first aid kit in the back hatch, socket set, tie straps, and tire inflator in the trunk, axe and knife under the rear seats, misc phone chargers and audio cables in the front center console. Need to throw the recovery gear in there at some point, but I haven't been out wheeling in a while and thus haven't needed it.
Hot wheels that I'm hiding from my wife. Some tools and random shiat I may need sometime (my justification for not taking it out of the X).
My Xterra is my DD - so I take just the bare minimum...wallet/ phone/ coffee. In the truck already is airdown vales, CB radio, some hand tools. But an offroad trip ? Thats a whole lot of stuff. Recovery straps, spare tire, my powerbuilt unijack.
I got a lot of shiat. Heres what I can think of Binoculars Rope Winch line Caribeeners Change of clothes for myself and kid blankets orange vest tools. All the tools. Flashlight or 4 knife or 6 cleaning wipes baby wipes spare parts/fuses GPS HAM radio charger/cables ratchet straps batteries ammo entertainment/toys for kid (she has her own organizer full of stuff) recovery gear, shackles, straps, snatch blocks gloves (3 kinds) tarp wheel chocks bottle jack shovel fire extinguisher (3) head lamp bungee cords OBDii scanner hockey tape hockey sticks
