Fired it up and ran it about a half hour for the first time in a few weeks. Noticed that a bunch of the annoying box beetles that seem to be everywhere ever since HOA changed the landscape bark had managed to get inside and die there, so I vacuumed them out. Planning to run through the car wash and move it into the garage to kick off a bunch of work sometime this week.

Today I installed a second hand oem tow receiver. 52 worth of grade 10.8 bolts, nuts and washers later..... Hitch is installed. Torqued to 110ft/lbs per the curt specification, since that's all I could find.

Cut, and mounted my auxiliary backup lights. Wired them up together, but still need to run from that plug to the relay box.

Also built and installed my 3 pin anderson harness that will charge the battery in the trailer while driving.

I'm gonna have to try this, since my washer fluid light on Gamora is telling me it needs to be filled anyways.
Yes. Do it. It's the only washer fluid you every need. Just need to remember to top if off if you EVER take you truck in for ANY kind of work. Because if it's not brimming full, places love to dump that blue garbage in the tank.

It's RainX, bug wash and de-icer all in one bottle. And it even smells nice. There's no reason to run anything else.
Sounds like a win all around! I'll have to pick some up for sure.

On a side not, my new backup lights are wired up, and working! Just finished getting the wires run through the tail light wire grommet, and getting everything hooked up.

I donʻt have the mechanical talent and knowledge of you guys so I look for cheap and easy things to do. While I did put extra led driving lights on the front of my X, I have no appetite for running wires through the body and roof for extra lights. Since I donʻt really need all those different lights all the time, I found this one magnetic LED short light bar and an auto auxillary power extension cord. The extension cord can be used to run it out a door window rather than closing the wire in the back hatch (which you can also do). With this combo, I can have a rear facing light on the roof if needed to back up at night, or an additional front spot light. I can also mount it under the rear hatch when up to make a light for eating dinner and working out of the back of the X. And, if you know how to fix engines, you can stick it to the inside of the hood for a work light. With the extension cord you can drag it quite aways away to put in a tent or for whatever else you need to do. The magnet is super strong, no problem driving with it on the outside of your X. Hereʻs the link on Amazon, $40 for the light, $10 for the extension.

So I repainted my plastic bumpers and mud guards with Krylon bed liner as well as the entire roof and the plastic roof basket and mounts for the roof rack. So when my truck gets all dusty it rinses right off the bed liner but I have to wash the truck to get it off. Makes me want to spray the whole thing with bed liner ;). It even sticks less to the bedliner3343DD73-897B-4641-A00B-A33920D9B261.jpegAnyone else notice this? Just mainly curious

Had to order a new circuit breaker for the DC-DC charger hookup in the trailer.

The inline style breaker I bought was junk, and keeps rattling itself loose, and I hadn't even hit dirt yet.

If I hadn't pulled up the battery on my phone, I wouldn't have realized it wasn't charging.

A quick crimp to put a lug on the positive cable, and I was able to connect it to the other circuit breaker temporarily, so it would at least charge the battery.

I also ordered the kickass products 3-pin anderson plug. The other one doesn't fit quite right, and is a major pain to connect to the trailer harness.

Lastly, I'm going to have a local spring shop handle my rear leafs. I went to order the 4x4 parts 3 leaf pack on Monday, and they wanted 160 bucks for shipping. So 400 for AAL, or 600 for new leafs that are set up for my vehicle. To me, it just makes more sense to spend that extra 200 and do it right.

So, in the meantime, we'll adjust my shackles so Gamora's ass isn't dragging so much.

Yes , you'd still need a wire gland mounted up there.
I suspected there was still a trick that required skill in there somewhere. :) I’m terrified of removing panels and the roof for fear the X will never recover! I love Crabby name BTW. I’m always imagining what a crab with a suspension lift looks like ;)

If you have some wires that need to go from the inside, to the outside, you could also poke through the grommet at the top of the rear hatch as well.

Now add hot glue to the threads.. then some lube.. for easy sliding in/out of Vehicle.

all else fails add duct tape! Bad part adding that much thread, will bump your MPG by Least 2.53 Gallon's. Now, If you used Butterfly Tape would be really Light.. Some fear Butterfly's while others Crave it.. ;-)

Not the X, but I got some rails added to the trailer. The front will be used for mounting traction boards, diesel heater, or anything else I feel like mounting on superstrut.

I also added one on the driver side, so I can mount my Axe to the outside. It's mounted low as the box I want to put on that side if the trailer is 18 inches tall, so the top of the rail is right at 19inches from the top of the trailer.

Finally got around to repainting the tail gate, which was what started this entire journey from an old black and gray 2002 xterra to the somewhat quirky looking version of today. In doing this I decided I needed a name. Really liked Reaverʻs Gamora name, but name was taken the X is black and red not green. So I had to really dig deep for this.

And the name is GroguX. The X is big and silent because he is French : )

This really makes no sense but the name comes from the baby yoda one of my kids attached to the rear view mirror. So when I I redid the tailgate had to rebadge it too! So naturally I had to rebrand it too! My wife thinks I went a bit overboard, says it looks like a 4 year old boy designed it :) She may be correct on this!IMG_6399.jpegIMG_6398.jpegIMG_6403.jpegIMG_6401.jpegIMG_6400.jpeg
