So in prep for an upcoming trip I was checking the hoses and noticed that one of the hoses off the heater core seemed to have a slight hole in it. Checked coolant level and YEP... it was low. Thankfully I have a spare set of hoses so I set about replacing this hose. Top clamp on plastic piece came off easily, Lower clamp ... well a few scrapes, some red leaking from my hands, and it is OFF!! Yea!!!

UH OH... I have Old Faithful here with coolant gushing out.... quick stick finger over the pipe. Ahhhhhh... stopped that. Now to.... Hmmmmmm, one hand is occupied with staunching the flow of coolant and the other can't do what needs doing to put the new hose on. A quick call to roommate and now we're back in business.

Hose is on, clamps tightened, start engine and HOLY CRAP!!!! another leak. Yeah, the plastic fitting crushed and broke. So remove it, put hose directly on the pipe for the heater, tighten clamp, add coolant, start engine.... NO LEAKS!!

Better to have happened in the garage than along side the road someplace.

Better do the other pipe too. If ones is bad, both are.
