Weird noise when turning wheel (with video)

sounds almost like when you crinkle an aluminum can.

Best heard when the recorder is outside the car, you can hear it in the car but some of the noise is also just me turning the wheel.

Also I don't think I am turning it enough to rub the bump stops as it is only about 25% turned

ALSO when I am moving about 5-10 mph as i take a turn while turning the wheel I feel through my foot against the pedal a sort of pop as the wheel is being turned, no idea what that is, not loss of control or anything but it does pop every time I take a turn that I have to turn the wheel over 50%. It is not a HUGE pop and is not audible but it happens and I feel it through the pedal.

Don't know much about first gens, but I would check the idler arm bushing.

I would also get down and look at the steering while someone else turns the wheel. You might be able to see odd movement or at least be able to pin point the sound.

Thanks for the input.

Anyone else is welcome to throw out some ideas lol

Also a good idea. I will check when I get home. Someone on the other site said "CV axel?" And "idler arm bushing or if I have one an IAB" which an idler arm bushing and IAB sound like the same thing?

The bushing is on between the arm and it's mount pivot. The brace is an aftermarket device used to strengthen the entire assembly.

Definitely a joint of some kind binding up. Could be a CV joint, but more likely it's a ball joint, tie rod end, or idler arm bushing.

The parts are fairly cheap, if you do the work yourself. If you take it to a shop, it can get pricey, but probably not as bad as you think.

Seems to be coming from the inner joints meeting my tie rods on both sides

Lol I almost said "what rubber boots" but that would make it sound worse than it is. They are cracked from wear I think I might just replace my tie rods and see what happens

Measure the existing tip to tip and set yours as close to that as possible. As for removal, I like ETCG's method: undo the nut and beat where it goes through the knuckle or center link.

okay so I put a hold on the order for now just because I checked the tie rods again and honestly they aren't nearly as bad as I thought. The noise is either coming from the tie rod, something under the CV boot, or the pitman arm. And I think I turned the front drive line (goes into the CV boot?) it moved about a quarter turn and it make a kinda clunk just like a metal on metal sound. Is that bad, should it be silent?
