Good morning all. Yesterday I picked up my Xterra after having the double add a leaf and Bilstein 5100 shocks installed. Also a new set of Duratracs in 285/75/16. Altogether a 4.5" increase in ride height. The front mud flaps had to come off, which is a simple 3 screws per side. They go back in of course to support the inner fenders. Tonight i will do the melt mod, which should eliminate the rubbing overall. I wanted to do the work myself but am lacking the tools and the time. The AAL and struts were purchased from PRG. He was very helpful. Everything went together fine and I can easily tell the difference in stiffness in the rear. On my short 25km drive to work this morning at about 80km/hour you can certainly feel and hear the tires. They will I'm sure wear in a bit. Either way, I love the look and the extra ride height. Once I get it washed up I'll get some pics posted. Can't wait to get my rock sliders on as well, once they are coated. My next project is to build a hitch mounted, swivel spare tire carrier. Eventually I will have to buy another full size tire for a spare, and I love the look of it on the back. I still need access to my hatch, So fabbing a hitch mounted swing style carrier is going to be a winter project. Has anyone else on here ever built one or seen one? Pros/cons? Pics to follow shortly.
