I have an 04 Xterra.
AC upper arms with 3" lift

Has anyone looked at them to see if their Upper Ball Joints have up and down play(spreading at the boot)? i'd say mine has about 5/8" travel when you steer right and left in park.

AC uses the Moog K9022. Ac said they have a spring inside the joint? Really....?

What other options are there besides AC Delco?

As far as I know they're just hardbody ball joints. I'll check for you when I get to work in a few hours

they're are a few options out there. Your best bet is gonna be to go with the moogs. It's definitely worth the extra coin to do it once and not worry about it

ordered Moog's direct from RockAuto. I have detail from a Moog Parts Rep stating they had a spring in the upper K9022 ball joints but no longer do because of issues. So i have defective junk upper joints from AC. In fact they don't say moog anywhere and have gotten worse in the past few weeks.

Replaced the upper Ball joint myself and the RockAuto Moog's are a way better joint than the no-name ones i received from AC. They claim they are Moog but Moog always has their name all over any part I've ever seen, these don't have 1 number on them. The joint is so loose that i can hold the threaded end and wobble the upper section back and forth with no resistance. I'm tempted to cut it in half to prove their is no spring inside. The major part that is bad is they have almost no angle to the joint. The new K9022's have more of an angle, thicker housing, and a better rubber boot. There was no play anywhere else in the entire front steering and suspension so the upper joints were the reason for every bit of issues I've had. Thanks a lot AC.

For future use, do not order the upper's from AC. Not worth the money since they basically failed in less than 1 month and 275 miles.

I buy any brand but moog when it comes to UCA ball joints. Just have had to many issues. They seem to often redesign parts for cost savings on their end. Extra small dust boots that split. Joints that don't have the same flexibility. They just never held up for me or had some design flaw. I try to stick with joints of the OEM design qualities.

Are you saying to stay away from the whole AC UCA package, or just the upper ball joints?

Id say the upper A-arms are good. My only concern, which i have lived with, is they used a bushing that can not be found anywhere on planet earth but AC. I meant upper Ball Joints from them. they had no brand name on them and according to a Moog Rep, Moog has Branded every part in the past few years. So who knows where they found them but they did not last more than a few weeks and less than 200 miles. I figure i would buy what AC would personally use and pay a little more. Just look at them before you buy to check the "shoulder" area for the articulation.
