Updated Nisstec MKII vs. Radflo coilovers

I've had Radflos for almost my entire ownership of my Xterra - first in advanced travel 2.0s, and then in Titan swap 2.5s. In the rear they are fine, but I've always never felt like I've had a really good riding machine in the front. I've rebuilt the front 2 or 3 times, and now the bearings in the bottom a bit wobbly again. I think I'm ready to try something else.

Has anyone gone from Radflos to the (newer) Nisstec MKII coilovers? Any notable impressions?

If you want it to ride better, go down in spring rates back to about 550 and put a sway bar back on it.

The shock part of a Radflo does great. The issue is we go up in spring rate to account for extra weight and removing the Swaybar. If you want a better ride, you've got to drop spring rates.

Sooo... Funny thing....

When I bought my 2.5 Remote Res T Swap Radflos from Nisstec, they had 650's that were 12" free height (Eibach). Long story short, I ended up changing via advice from PRG Greg to 13" 750's (Icon I think). Much improved on the ride quality.

BUT.... That all depends on your weight obviously.... I'm also running 900#'s over stock Alcans.

^^ That's interesting. I'm at 650# now. Unfortunately, Nisstec only offers 650# with their Titan-swap MKII's, otherwise I might have tried 600#. I have someone lined up to buy my Radflos, so I decided to take the plunge. The MKII's are rebuildable and it will "only" cost me net about $400 after selling the Radflos, so I figured it was worth trying something new. My X hasn't seen a major new part for nearly 2 years now, so it was feeling neglected :p

Lead time is about 6 weeks, or if I'm lucky and make it on the current shipment, about 2 weeks. I'll update here when I get them!

Your ride could have been bad because of coil bind because you had to turn them up so much because of the weight.

Oh I got coil bind alright. Broke both my LCA's. Lesson there is if you bought those shocks from Nisstec, they come pre adjusted to the maximum. I only adjusted them a very slight bit. If you buy those same shocks from PRG they come with a longer spring.

But yes, it's ALL about weight.
