I own a 2002 Xterra, 220k miles, V6 with a manual tranny, naturally aspirated. I cannot get my 4WD stick to shift the t-case into 4 low. Engaging 4 low on my model requires you push down on the 4WD stick, then pull it back to engage the 4 low, but the 4WD stick will neither push down nor pull back. Perhaps I have a broken linkage? I put my transmission in neutral before attempting to engage anything in 4WD. I'm hoping to get a few trouble shooting ideas before pulling the whole t-case out for an inspection. Note: My 4 high works flawlessly. Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks!

before you pull the tcase remove the plastic by the sifters, you'll have view of the t case linkage there.
