Trans mount orientation?

Hey Gang,

Swapped my engine and trans mounts recently and when I went to drain/filter change the trans oil, I noticed that I couldn't even get my thinnest 10 mm betwixt the oil pan and the trans mount. Then I noticed that the mount itself sort of has a curved side and straight side. I put the straight side pointing toward the front, as when it's out of the truck, it has a natural lean to it. But now I'm thinking maybe I have it backwards.

Anyone know for sure? Pics/Videos aren't really available for this specific thing that I could find. Rather just shave down a 10 milli than have to swap the mount, but I'll do it if I have to.

Any idears? Sally is an '02/4x4/Auto/Xe/Non-SC.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Figured this out... eventually. Combination of looking at the old one, where the rust/dissimilar metal corrosion was occurring, and the logic of a slight lean aft for the engine/trans did the trick. Still can't figure out why Mr. or Mrs. Xterra (the designers) would block ONE bolt on the trans pan behind the trans mount. But then again, Mr. and Mrs. Xterra also blocked one oil pan bolt behind itself and one spark plug that's jammed into the firewall, but that seems to be the theme with this rig.

On the other hand, Sally, before my time, was involved in a front-end texting collision with a highway guardrail that could've pushed everything back juuust enough to prevent even a shaved 10 mm socket to get to that last bolt betwixt the pan and the trans mount.

Long story longer, had to remove said trans mount after all to get to that last bolt.

Hope this helps future masochists who want to do this whole procedure on their own.
